Only one thing can exist in one timeline, in regular circumstances, without any dimensionel\time travel. There's one pendent, it exists until 1000 A.D. If the 1000 A.D. pendent is taken back to Zeal, the Time Bastard effect does not take any effect, because the two pendents, although the same, have no effect on one another. None of the two contradicts the existence of the other. There's the future pendent, who happans to be in Zeal, and the past pendent, that also happans to be in Zeal!

Same for my Janus example. Same for the fact you can have two Zappas in Another World, two Korchas and two Machas in Home World, etc. They do not contradict each other's existence (Bad example, actually. They can't, they're no longer connected).

But Zappa is from a different dimension. They are automatically not the same. Though, truely, I don't believe Time bastard to an extent, so I ruled it out a long time ago, with my past theory.

As in Schala's pendant in the Lavos Time line gets to the point where Marle takes it to the fair. The moment she enters the telepod, the Crono Time Line begins and the entitiy opens up the gates.

The only reason why there are two pendants is because one is from another time line. Marle's has no more energy in it, Schala's is still the same recharged in her time, until she uses it up on Crono and co to save them from the Ocean Palace. Then as my theory goes, she gets sucked into the Mammon Machine, her pendant is recharged, something happens here, gets thrown into the DBT, Lavos meets her and starts fusing with her. Pendant's powers are used to make the time storm, Kid is sent out with the pendants power and with Kid goes the pendant with the only power left, to reverse time a little so Kid wouldn't be in danger.

Ah, excellent! I forgot Lucca mentioned the Schala got sucked into the Tesseract with Lavos' Mammon.M! Then it all makes sense.

her pendant was most likely recharged through the extreme power of the M. Machine, Lavos and Schala herself. (kind of like the way the giant 'Gate' at Magus' place worked [massive amounts of energy rip through the layers of time etc.])
