Here's a newer design for the card. The Chronometer was made with Blender. Unfortunately, I'm horrible at reflective surfaces.

And here's the front design template.

Really? They look almost perfect to me, except some part of the edge of the hard light.

I think it looks pretty damned good myself. The only thing about the whole thing I might suggest is that you find a way to incorporate the actual Arcana itself into the card. For your example, have something actually with the sun in it, such as Lucca in the pose she makes to cast Flare, only instead of the waves of fire behind her, it's... well, a picture of the sun. If you have to, you'd probably have some luck with commissioning them from those of us around the site.

Just a thought, really. Otherwise, I'd say you're making great progress.

I don't see what you mean. Which of the edges are you talking about?

Thanks! That sounds like an interesting idea. We'll keep that in mind.

I love the brown one!

I think what utunnels is talking about with the edge of the hard light is between the brown/red border and the yellow border, the edge where the "highlight" meets the background is noticeably pixelated.

The jagged edge.
It seemed you stretched a smaller image?

I think I see now. How about this? Fixed the Jagged edge and added a red back-light.

The one I was talking about is here. Don't get me wrong, I think the design looks fantastic. But if you're trying to be a perfectionist then you might want to fix this.

There is now.  http://www.box.com/s/6ek9qn3f9iig90b9hmzf

Just a note that initially in GIMP I used "Grain Merge" and "Grain Extract" for layers "Sheen" and "Shade", but it doesn't get carried over to PSD for some reason. I had to tweak settings to export to PSD in different blend modes. The outcome might be different from the original renders.

Also (to everyone), CMYK separation inevitably makes shades darker than they originally are. Shall we get rid of the black shade at the corners top left and bottom right?

@Bekkler: How about now?

Honestly, I like it with the darker bits. The contrast signifies that, considering that they're for tarot readings, your fortune could end up either good or bad. Keep 'em.

Just a note: I tried my own PSD export file in Photoshop recently... and it sucks. It looks different in PSD than it does in GIMP. Some masks shift about, some blends don't work as expected

I'll try to make a "proper" PSD file. But since I'm using CS4, I need a vote: Would you guys prefer a PSD file or GIMP?

Gimp and Photoshop aren't friends, so here's a better "working" template for folks to work on (requires CS4 or higher; if you need more compatibility, just ask). (CMYK conversion is perfect now -- just "Flatten Image" then "Mode > CMYK")

First, download this font. Click on the images to download the relevant templates.

I don't like the Chrono font in there, it just looks... out of place =/
Everything else is perfect though =D
