The Whole of Time and Space...
« on: October 08, 2011, 05:01:50 am »
Since there are some wonderful discussions going on presently, I wanted to give a public notice that I will not be around for the next several days. The moving-wagons are heading out this Sunday for parts unknown (also called "Southern California" by unsavory sorts). My internet should be cut off any hour now here, and we just found out today that it might not be connected at our new place until the 28th, despite the prearranged start date of the 12th. Perhaps Fortuna shall favor us -- I found an old Hersey's bar in cleaning and left it out for her -- and you'll see me sooner. If not, then not. Anywho, if I owe you a reply (or if you've posted a damn interesting topic that I am fascinated to participate in and see how it unfolds), it will be given in due time, but that "due" part may be long indeed.

There is the whole of time and space out there, beyond the internet, and you can be sure I'll be taking advantage of it as best I can in my absence. I do hope that among other things, you'll take the time to have an adventure or two as well. Ta for now.

Just an absent,

Internet-less until the 28th!? Talk about fasting -- I don't know how I'd ever survive something like that. Good luck!

Southern California! I grew up there. Whereabouts, generally?

Was it wrong that I imagined that title in David Tennent's voice? XDDD

Good luck, mate!

Well... that was a little anti-climatic. After talking to ATT and making it clear that we had no intention of paying for internet for the 16 days that we wouldn't have it between our move in and the actual start of service, they arranged to have us connected today. So... um... hi. I am sure you all greatly missed me over the last few days :P

The trip itself was more adventurous than I would have liked. We had help flying in, except that their flight was delayed and eventually canceled. That delayed us about 5 very panicked hours on Sunday. But that wasn't all. We were towing a car, and the person who hooked it up did it about as wrong as is humanly possible. We got it fixed on Monday, after being delayed an extra 5 hours and after having our car damaged from the individual's misinformation. Also, on Monday, our other car (a little blue Honda Fit that is "bigger on the inside") got hit by a truck tire that just blew off its vehicle. It needs repairs. Tuesday, a random person on the street threatened to kill one of our drivers. We still aren't sure why. Wednesday, I went to return the moving truck and towing dolly. I fueled up first, and the gas station had all these arrows directing me to the exit... through a carwash that the truck had no hope of fitting through. Backing up with a tow dolly is not exactly easy. All in all, far more exciting than I would have preferred. But we are here now, it seems nice enough, and we can finally focus on unpacking, finding me a job, and writing freelance articles.

@ Tush and Saj: Would this be DT's Dr. Who accent or his natural, dreamy, Scottish accent?

@ Josh, the answer to your question is San Diddy D.

His Doctor accent, admittedly.

Same here. XDD Although with a mix of that usual Scottish accent.

Thanks, Josh.

Tush, Saj: I had thought so, but his natural accent is so silky-smooth that I can always dream :P
