Flea could have learned the spell from Magus.

If so, it changes nothing in my theory. Who used the spell dosen't matter, the source of the spell does.

All I'm saying Legend is that Flea could have learned the spell from Magus which means he knows it.  Also Magus never really seamed to anti-social that he wouldn't teach someone a spell, and it would help protect or at least stall anyone tring to invade his castle giving him more time to summon Lavos and try to kill Lavos.

So its not hard to say the Queen used the same or at least near the same spell.

I never expected anyone in his castle so I don't think he would have teach spells to Flea so he could stop intruder.

And when you go see spekkio with Magus Spekkio says that he (magus) could tech him (spekkio) a thing or two. BUT MAGUS NEVER DID! this is irrefutable :P

Well thats true.   :P

On a more serious note, he did seem to rather friendly with Ozzie when Ozzie wanted to turn Glenn into a Frog.  Plus I think he would teach spells to his generals inorder to get Lavos alone and have noone attack him in the process like you do in the game.

Yes, he never expected intruders, but he can never be really sure. He didn't teach Spekkio magic because he never had reason to. Giving Ozzie and Flea a couple of spells, and gaining the resources to forge a Slasher for Slash woulden't be hard for Magus. His sole purpose was to get the needed resources to summon and defeat Lavos and exact his much wanted revenge.

Yeah so making sure his three most powerfulest generals all had good spells and equipment would be really good since a war was going on.

Yeah so he might have gotten a little nervous and made sure his generals were properly prepared.

Not nervous (You think Janus was ever nervous?), but he just thought he's better safe then sorry.

Everybody gets nervous even if they don't show it, but yeah better safe than sorry, not that it mattered once you got to his tower.

His tower? You have to go down the stairs to get to him. I still remeber going down the stairs with about seven bats chasing me.

I still say it's possible that Magus gets thrown into a gate even in the original timeline...

And of course he gets nervous...He seems kinda shaky when he uses the Masamune on Lavos and it doesn't work, right?

Also, in Chronopolis, we learn a lot about cloning and how it's seemingly possible to actually clone someone's "soul". Perhaps this has something to do w/those images we see of Crono & Co.
