"Myth 4: The music sucks!" ?

I'm reading this very good editorial : "Chrono Cross : The good, the bad and the fans". There is however a point that I cannot figure out : "Myth 4: The music sucks!"

I was wondering where this myth comes from. I always thought Chrono Cross was very well received in the music department. It won several "Best Music" awards back then.

I like it. But I've heard some people find it annoying after a while, unnerving.

The only problem I have with the S.S. Zelbess theme is that it reminds me of the amount of frustration I had to deal with when I went on that cat mission. I swear, when I finished I felt retarded.

Gale was more like an homage to radical dreamer. Personally, I didn't hate or like it, it was just bizarre.

S.S. Zelbess wasn't so bad, it was just played too much non stop.

I know the game could use a little polishing and isn't perfect, but the music was...  :D ...  :(

 :cry: Okay yes the music got a little grating at times; it was very nice music but - I don't know it just does...

Of course I liked the music, but I have to agree with where the sentiment probably comes from; saying it sucked is a gross misrepresentation of the problem though.

Although I have no idea what the actual problem with the music is.  :?

I am in the pool that dislikes "Gale". I just don't feel very battle-y when I hear it. I feel turn-off-the-game-y.

'Gale' got on my nerves after a while, mostly because it just... didn't fit in right, you know? It's a good piece, but it's like putting an orange into a barrel of apples. They're all delicious and tasty, but the orange just doesn't work. (the exception to the whole 'everything is delicious and tasty' rule, of course, is S.S. Zelbess. That's just not cool.)

Who on Earth ever said the CC music sucks? It's one of the great melancholy video game soundtracks ever written.

This.  I love CC's music.  There are a few songs here and there that I'm not fond of, but that's three or four songs out of THREE DISCS.  It's the best videogame soundtrack I've ever heard, and I don't say that lightly.

I wonder what their favourite soundtracks are, if they think CC's music is awful.

I never felt that Gale was out of place, and I actually like it *shrugs* But I wonder where that myth about the music comes from? Apparently people who don't like the game can agree that the music (at least) is good.

Yeah, I think calling it a "myth" is giving the claim more justification than it deserves. Sounds like something trolls or flamers(evil internet people, not the stereotypical-derogatory-term-for-homosexuals) would say without actually playing the game or even bothering to hear the music. Or just plain made-up.
