Considering Xenoblade's near universal praise, it's going to be the JRPG of JRPGs, at least this generation.

I think the odds are higher than ever that Xenoblade will come to the US (and will most likely be announced at E3) but that doesn't make this particular announcement any less maddening.

Also, Xenoblade Chronicles?? "Chronicles" is one of those words that's become horribly abused by the video game industry, kind of like "Heroes" or "Adventure(s)". When you see the word "Chronicles" attached to a game title, it might as well be "Second-Rate Video Game Spinoff". I think Xenoblade deserves better.

@FaustWolf: I heard rumors that Xenoblade has a secret Xenogears connection; I don't know how truthful they are, though.

Ahhhh, jeez, I just can't look at the video; I seize up with memories of Xenogears, and how awesome another Xenogears episode could have been if it were made instead of Xenoblade.

Now that you say that gatotsu, I'll keep an eye out. My guess is if there's anything, it'll be a little Easter Egg reference like the ones slipped into Xenosaga. How painful this is to watch! Honestly, I think Takahashi's long since moved past the Xenogears franchise (he seemed to have something way different in mind for Xenosaga), so he probably isn't pressuring Monolithsoft to buy the Xenogears rights from Square Enix or anything. Talk about dead franchises.  

Although...seeing as Kato was involved with Xenogears to some degree...I wonder where he'd take it if he had the desire?

...I'm sorry, but am I the only one in the room who doesn't know what Xenoblade is and/or is about? I mean, from what I can see it's an RPG with amazing environments, gigantic monsters, and a fantasy/sci-fi fusion, but that's pretty much it.

It's particularly notable for having nearly universal praise in all its aspects--story, gameplay, visuals, music, everything. The single "negative" point I've ever seen written about it is that the character models are low-res... and honestly, that doesn't even count.

look at footage of the gameplay, especially the battles. now that looks like the chrono trigger battles-happen-right-here-dammit system, and frankly, looks like the only thing remotely close to a xenogears (and therefor chrono, the spiritual sister-series) sequel this side of xenosaga (or cross). i think it's gonna be the bee's knees and i have my wii hooked up to a projector so the graphics are gonna be pretty nice for me regardless of resolution.
