Chrono Shift Demo Release Day!
« on: March 19, 2011, 05:57:48 pm »
Hello, Chrono community! Mr Bekkler here, and I am pleased to announce the demo for Chrono Shift, the fan-made RPG Maker Chrono prequel, is available for download!

Here

Jam-packed with Chrono Trigger-style, this demo shows the first chapter, dungeon, and boss, of a much larger adventure. Plug in your USB controller, sit back, and enjoy some good old 90's RPG nostalgia!

To install/play: download, unzip file, open folder. double click RPG_RT.exe (use this file if you make a shortcut)

With keyboard:
Up, down, left, right arrow keys move.
Select/Continue - Space Bar.
Menu/Cancel - (x, c, v, b, n, pretty much that whole row works)

With USB controller:
It's just up, down, left, right, and 2 buttons.
Plug in and install controller BEFORE starting game, and you don't have to do any setup.

A common problem with RM2k3 is strange or blocky fonts, the way to fix that is to install the RTP or the whole RPG Maker program,
go into C:\Program Files\rpg2003\fonts,
copy the fonts,
and paste them into C:\Windows\Fonts
That will install the fonts that I guess the RTP doesn't install fully.

Edit: The game has been approved on RPGMaker.net!  http://rpgmaker.net/games/2934/
The game is also being hosted on RPGMaker.net, but the site's downloads take a few days to approve.

I'd prefer if you download from the link above, but if you have any problems with RMN or Megaupload, download from here: http://www.mediafire.com/?z6ts9xq61rch9sw

Any bugs found can be reported in this thread: http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,9137.0.html

Is it necessary to have the RPG maker installed to play it? I'm getting this message "the rpg maker 2003 runtime package is not present or not registered"

Yes either the whole thing or just the runtime pack (rtp) both are available on crankeye.com

1h remaining for the download complete xD
What's the format type of your images?
Do this test:
 - Pick an image;
 - Save it in these formats:
   .png
   .bmp (256 colors)
 - See who have a lower size (less KB/MB/Bytes). Sometimes it's .png, but, if I remember, really small images are lower sized with .bmp (256 colors).

File size for the whole thing is approx 150MB, small enough to fit on a cd-r. It's not the images, though, it's a lot of awesome music taking up that space.

Oh, I see. Well, 137MB/152MB downloaded. I'm almost there! ^^

My god, I'm playing it, IT'S AWESOME! But... I made a thing that gave me 25 of every tab and 2 super-powerfull weapons with 3 or 5 Elixirs! OMG! I'm lucky! And received 10 revives somewhere else!
Your game is going very very good! Congratulations!

And... How many playtime it has?

EDIT2: OMG, another secret killed me with a masamune-spekkio like boss!

Excellent! If anyone else has problems with megaupload, I'm also uploading to mediafire, by suggestion from PSZ.

You found a few secrets! I'm glad, there's some fun stuff in there. And I'm REALLY glad you like it!  :D The question is... can you find the third super-weapon?

Honestly if you're me, you can get through the entire thing in 15 to 20 minutes, but if you're new to it and willing to explore, there's lots to see and do, LOTS of secret stuff, and could probably wander around for a few hours. I'd say play time is anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Great stuff Day-Dream team! You guys can feel free to make use this if you need a quick Youtube video to show off anywhere. Darn, though, it fell victim to my habit of accidentally screen-capturing part of the RPGMaker interface.

Looks like the caterpillar system is really emphasizing tile solidity issues. Hopefully taking care of the tile solidity will keep Norstein's team from walking through tables and stuff.
