Oh, I'll still be stopping by, and I am sure I'll still post. But I'll be trying to do less of both. For example, I navigate to sites on the interwebs by typing in URLs (I'm old school that way). More than once I've meant to go to CNN or even google and found myself at the compendium because I typed in its address by habit. That's a habit I'll be trying to break.

I'm a historian, I know that civilizations don't rise and fall because one person comes or leaves. Indeed, they don't fall because the intellectual environment changes. As long as the people of a civilization are passionate, that civilization endures. Thus, until all the passion is gone from here, it will be a wonderful place.

But I tell ya, buddy, it takes ONE candle to light them all.  You've certainly been that candle to us. Thank you!

And belated happy birthday! (Forgive me for being slow) And here's hoping you a great forth decade. 

I just want to tell you all: you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic.
