El Nido's Poet Girl
« on: January 28, 2011, 12:35:55 am »
Just trying to decipher the poet girl's poem. This seems like a good place to discuss.
Quote
   Insanity leads to chaos,
   Then to solitude...
   The fruitless effort of adding
   Meaning to what is meaningless
   A lone, crimson tear
   Falls to the sea...
The echo of the remaining star
Cries out in the infinite vacuum
   The least I can do
   Is send my distant prayers
   Over the wind of time,
   Setting sail on dreams...

Sticking strictly to Chronoverse, this poem seems to reflect, IMO, Schala. And this is a literal interpretation, so of course feel free to take whatever meaning you wish from it.

The girl lost to time, breeding feelings of insanity, chaos, and solitude--all leading to her determination that life is meaningless. The crimson tear of the now-dead Lavos, once referred to as a star, falls to the sea as the Frozen Flame; its echo, the Time Devourer, lives on in the Darkness Beyond Time, feeding on her negativity. Now bound by the creature, Schala can do nothing but pray and dream...

So the real question is how did she know?

Bekkler brings to light a good point. I always wondered about that but never let it get too deep in my psyche because I didn't want to get too wrapped up in the possibility of it being anything to write home about.

Perhaps, it was like Serge's dream.

But anyway, she didn't have to be able to know, she just knew.

One could go WAAAY out on a limb and say she herself was a prophet or some reincarnation of a citizen of Zeal... maybe in her dreams she remembered another life and was prompted to write her prose.

Heh, perhaps the lines in opening/ending CG which was supposed to be written by Schala/Kid was actually from her novel.
Just kidding.

Why?  That doesn't seem like a ridiculous idea to me.  The way Cross ended leaves that door wide open.  Who can say how all of this ends?

Would that mean she is actually Schala "Kid" Zeal as well?

Interesting speculation.

Or that Schala "kid" Zeal is her character she ...created? Or so she thinks. Maybe it was Schala trying to get that message to Serge telepathically, and got it as close as she could (his home town!)
