Radiant Historia - intended as a spiritual successor to Chrono?
« on: November 27, 2010, 02:07:54 am »
I thought I'd swing by and drop this information.

Atlus USA has announced a DS RPG that involves time travel and "channels the heart and soul of fan-favorite 16-bit RPG classics."  I can only think of one fan-favorite 16-bit RPG classic that involves time travel, which is why I'm bringing the news here, as Square-Enix is unlikely to give us a Chrono sequel (and I doubt it'd be satisfying, even if they did).

The release date is February 22, 2011, the trailer is here.

I can't guarantee that it'll be Chrono-like in the least, but those of you adventurous enough to give it a try should do so.  Even if it isn't Chrono-like at all, the premise looks interesting enough for a go.

Yeah, this is one game I've been itching to get. I'm glad to see it finally got a release date over here. And close to my birthday too!

I really want to see how it handles space/time travel. That chart in the trailer looks pretty neat, like you can choose any time period to go to.

I posted a thread about this a while back: http://www.chronocompendium.com/Forums/index.php/topic,8723.0.html

But yeah, I'm debating whether or not to get this. Might depend on whether I have any extra money and/or other games I'm playing by the time it comes out.

I checked that out a bit on gamefaqs. I don't know, but...

Is it just me, or does one of the female characters (long black hair) look a bit like Schala?

I think I saw it most in her in-battle portrait. Maybe it's just my inner fanboy... :(

skylark, the spear wielder? I see some resemblance in the hair bangs.

The battle sprites look interesting.

The idea of time traveling in RH is similar to Tactics Ogre's(PSP) flow chart system rather than a Chrono Trigger-esque adventure, Player will deal with 2 major story branches as well as minor branches as side-quests. it is neither a successor to Chrono trigger nor Radiant Stories.
