Black Omen possible dimensions/stats.
« on: May 21, 2010, 08:56:09 am »
Greetings to everyone!

I would like to know please, if there is any reference or if any of you know what are the dimensions and stas of the Black Omen (like length and others like that).

Also I will like to know if any of you ever created a CT/CC roleplay adaptation in your Star Wars Saga d20/Saga, D&D or other roleplaygames.

A pleasure and thanks to everyone!

Cya later!

Nope, I don't think that is ever mentioned anywhere what dimensions does the Black Omen have

Based on the overworld images, its length and width appear larger than Death Peak. I can’t tell what its height is, though. However, that perception might be due to it being closer to the “camera.” When the Epoch flies, it flies under the Black Omen. However, since the Epoch is closer to it than anything else, that might be a good reference point for size. Compare the characters to the Epoch to the Black Omen.

Black Omen was initially a palace in the ocean, and judging from the innards it's all... palacey... Sprites were never accurate, but the Black Omen was HUGE indeed.

From the top view, though, it could have been spherical or had a specific radius (a few kilometers).

First of all, thanks for your answers!

I will wait a bit more to listen a few more opinions.

About the other question, anyone of you know about someone that ever created an adaptationof Chrono Trigger/Cross worlds to table/paper games like Dungeons & Dragons or Star Wars Saga or d20?

Thanks again for your help!

It's hard to say exactly - as tushantin mentioned, sprites are not always to scale. I imagine the Black Omen to be around the size of Manhattan.

Greetings again and thanks for your answer ;)

Some people in the Wizards of the Coast forum told me about the possible size of the Black Omen, about 2 or 3 times an Imperial Star Destroyer (1600m).

What do you think about it? Thank you so much!

Well, looking at the sizes, Manhattan is about twenty-three square miles, making, on average, the X- and Y- axes a little under five miles each. Judging by the sprite, it's twice as long as it is wide, making the length about seven and two-thirds long and two and one-third wide, and, also judging by the sprite, is about at tall as it is wide at its highest point. The space it would require to fit in any one place would be a little over forty-one-and-a-half cubic miles. This, of course, is judging by xcalibur's thoughts on the subject. Compared to a mile-long Star Destroyer from Star Wars, the Black Omen is FUCKING GIGANTIC, which actually does it justice, if you ask me. Given the amount of weaponry that a Star Destroyer has, it would take at least a small fleet of them to cause significant damage to the thing. Very fitting for something so unique and powerful.

The more that I think about it, having the Black Omen in the Star Wars universe seems like a very dangerous idea, mostly with what could be done with it. If you were to put this all into d20 scale, like how a lot of other things are developed into the system, comparison of the infiltration and destruction of the Black Omen to that of a Star Destroyer would be like comparing a level twenty dungeon to conquering a layer or two of The Abyss.

Apparently, the Super Star Destroyer Executor (Darth Vader's ship) was about 19 km or 12 miles long. Manhattan is 13.4 miles long and 2.3 miles wide. It seems that the Dreadnaught class ships from the Star Wars universe perfectly fit my view of the Black Omen. It all fits together!  :D

The Black Omen would still kick its ass. Or, at least, it they loosed the Elder Lavos spawn on it.

It's the second one, which is the one that's almost the same dimensions of Manhattan. I'm thinking for the Black Omen to be roughly that size, if not bigger. It's certainly taller, since that thing mostly looks like a paper plate.

Thank you so much!

I have to study it yet and also comment it with my players. The last time we spoke about it we used a reference between 2.5 and 3.2 miles.

Take care!

Indeed. I'm thinking that the Omen has less length and greater width proportionally. It's definitely taller - looking at the sprite, it looks stacked up like a floating fortress.

Other than that, the dreadnaught class provides a great size reference for a warship huge enough to be a self-contained citadel. And you certainly get that impression from the Black Omen. There's its size on the overworld map - even if it's closer to the camera, as suggested by the view from the bridge, it's still portrayed to be large. Inside, the dungeons are extensive, and the background suggests large, labyrinthine spaces.

Thank you so much ;)

I have to adapt a few things yet and also the dimensions and stats but if someone here it's interested in the Black Omen stats in d20 Saga Edition, I will post it here.

Take care people!
