Chrono at VGL
« on: May 07, 2010, 07:02:57 pm »
Yesterday marked my second time attending VGL (May 6th in Vancouver, Canada) and, for one of the encores, they said that they were going to do something they never had before, namely Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.  I don't know if it's true that they had never done CT/CC before, or if they had just never done it in Vancouver before, but it was awesome regardless!

As far as I can tell the song snippets played, in chronological order, were:
A Premonition (Chrono Trigger)
Peaceful Days (Chrono Trigger)
Frog's Theme (Chrono Trigger)
Time's Scar (Chrono Cross)
For a total of just over 4.5 minutes.

I just felt like I should spread the word that the Chrono series is still getting some love from industry!  The hosts said that they had received a lot of requests for Chrono music, so that's why they had played it.  Hopefully they'll keep it in the show for others to see!

Very nice! "VGL" would be this, I presume?

Yes, VGL would be Video Games Live.  Sorry about that!

Oh, that's excellent quality too, judging from the few of these I've seen on Youtube. Thanks for sharing!

Man, the crowd cheered when it became apparent they were about to play a Chrono Trigger song too. Brings a tear to me eye.

That's so... *sniff* beautiful.

Someone pass me a tissue.  Thanks.

*wipes his eyes*

This is the result of people like us never giving up on the franchise.

We seriously need Chrono Break like... sometime before 2015.

Ah, I remember my first VGL concert. Actually I've only been one, but that's besides the point. It was sometime last year, held in San Diego, California. The concert was about to end when they diceded they were gonna play some Chrono Trigger for us. Best night of my life, man...

I'm glad that everyone likes it!  My first thought upon hearing them say that they were going to play Chrono Trigger/Cross (after being ecstatic) was that the people at the Chrono Compendium should hear it.

@Asafigow: Wow, you were lucky to see it on your first time!  I went to VGL the first time primarily with the hope of seeing Chrono performed.  They didn't play it then, but I was only a bit disappointed, as the show as a whole is phenomenal.  The second time, however, blew me away!  Hurray for Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross!
