Chrono logo
« on: November 27, 2009, 01:05:23 pm »
I was just wondering, is there anyone who has a vector of the Chrono logo? I mean a Photoshop Path. On the Compendium Downloads page are a few plain logos for the games, but they're just PDF files, they're pretty hard to edit and they look pretty awful when scaled.

I'm specifically looking for the clock frame design around the large C.

I'm considering doing this myself, but I wanted to ask first if anyone else has already done it before.

I'm using Photoshop CS3. I thought it would be compatible, but apparently not. So it works fine in Illustrator? In that case, I'll have to get that instead.

Well yeah, but remember that Illustrator is for creating and editing vectors,

it doesn't work with pixels like photoshop does, photoshop works with vectors but

the things it can do are very limited. Try getting a freeware program for vectors, there's a lot of

those out there...Illustrator is a bit heavy, and expensive...

But would I be able to take the paths from Illustrator and use them in Photoshop?

Here.  Though it's not in the archives, you can try working with this one:

I would believe so.

Luminaire85's PDF were such a godsend IMO. Echo, this might still be a little too rough for what you need since I'm not using photoshop, and it's still not a vector, but here goes in case it might help at all. It's just a converted Paint Shop Pro file where you can fill in Luminaire85's clock frame with whatever you want. I never got the "C" disconnected from the "H" when I tried doing this way back.

Here's a quick-convert of Luminaire85's work from PDF to another couple of vector formats--Photoshop should be able to import at least the EPS. I experimented with having Inkscape auto-trace GenesisOne's image, but it never works all that well on JPEGs to begin with, and the glow effect in the background was just adding insult to injury.

Very nice logo template, Mister Wolf.

Although I do remember the "H" being next to and not under the "C".

Not to criticize your work, though.

Oh, what I posted is just Luminaire85's PDF image treated in an effort to get a stencil-thingie from the "C" where you could cut out the purple color and then use the "C" as a stencil. I'm actually not sure if it's any more helpful than Luminaire's PDF now. I can't wait to try out what alfador posted. Every fan needs their very own Chrono "C" stencil. It's just the right thing to do.

At least, I think that's how it went.

Wow, thank you all very much for helping me out so much. I really appreciate it.

By opening the the PDF in Illustrator, I was able to delete everything off the logo but the C-clock and import it in Photoshop as a Smart Object, so I can scale it to any size without losing quality. This solves my problem, I think.

Thanks all! Keep the dream alive

Echo, given your new avatar I'm curious as to just what it is you're coming up with, but I'll be patient.

What a kickass quote. Sounds like we need to start doing Optimus Prime memes around here.

Hehe, you mean this one or the one before? I've been switching them around.

But yeah, I'm working on something, but too early to make a fuss about yet. I don't know how things will go.
