So apparently Hiro & Heroes making a Chrono reference (so fitting, yes) is what it's taken to draw me back. Fun that Marle died but Crono saved her and then Crono dies and the other heroes save him...Maybe that's how Hiro will get over his tumor or w/e...SAVE THE TIME EGG, SAVE THE HIRO~!!

I'd be interested to know whether there's any evidence of contact between Square Enix and the producers of Heroes. There could be a very slight chance of viral advertising here, and thus an indication of movement on Square Enix's part.
Well, it was established a long time ago outside the show (back in 2006) that he likes Chrono Trigger. (See "Hiro's Blog")
Could be, or maybe not.

Edit: Well, the character at least, don't know about the actor or writers.

I wonder if he'd push for a reference to Crimson Echoes in the show if we wrote to him.

Masi Oka doesn't write for the show. He just acts.

While Oka doesn't write the show, I'm pretty sure he had more that a little input on that line.  From what I've read he was/is a "geek" IRL and has added details about Hiro such as this, so it wouldn't surprise me if he pushed for this personally.  For all we know, he might have wanted to put a CE nod, but couldn't for obvious reasons (too obscure for pop culture, possible lawsuit from SE, negative impact on the whole "don't ask, don't tell" underground situation).  I'm just glad for the reference.

One thing did bother me about his pronunciation.  In the episode, he clearly said the "L" sound.  Now I am aware that the "l/r" situation is sometimes overstated, but given that Hiro grew up in Japan and presumably played the original version, wouldn't he have pronounced it more phonetically.  I'm not sure if this is Oka's fault (since his Japanese can be "off" and Americanized at times) or if it's not a fault at all.

I clearly heard him say Crono and Mall, I did not hear Marlee. For what it's worth.

Masi Oka wrote the blog in conjunction with the writers, so I am strongly under the impression that he may have had some to do with the reference.

I sadly think that a mention of Crimson Echoes is a little to much to hope for. Even if the writers know of Crimson Echoes, I doubt that they would want to open up that can of worms.

Well, if anything, this shows that we're:

a) getting the word out
b) citing a reference from a popular TV Serial
c) expecting too much from both a) and b)

I pick C, personally.
