I know it's a long stretch, but I know a few people who may be able to help, whether it's as a friendly favor, I pay them, whatever, who speak and I believe read Japanese as well. And if they don't I'm positive they know some people. No guarentees, no hope risings but it's still worth a shot.

My universities Japanese club could do some of this perhaps...

EDIT: They want pay(which is fine), about 75 just for the Ultimania. Little out of my spare cash at the moment.

I've started working on the liner notes - http://www.chronocompendium.com/Term/File:SQEX-10167_bk_inside_0102.jpg.html at a snail's pace. It may be too difficult for me, but somehow, I'm getting enjoyment from it because I get to learn more about Yasunori Mitsuda. I still can't believe that he was only 20 when he started working on CT's soundtrack. That's unbelievable. I remember reading something somewhere that he stressed himself out too much and Uematsu had to do some final tracks.

I think that I will try my best to finish this short essay by Mitsuda regardless of whether it's going up on the site or not. It's just hard not to ask Japanese people I know to help me because I like games and puzzles, and translation is just like a massive logic puzzle to me. Too bad I suck at logic puzzles... what a way to get better XD.

Um...

What exactly do bounty points go towards (in terms of the member doing translation material)?

I know a couple of Japanophiles who'd probably like to translate this material.

Just the ranks, though if someone is particularly helpful, they'll achieve Guru of Time.

Hey guys. This is my first post, niceta meetcha!

I'm a fan of this site, so I thought I'd contribute this here for everyone. I've picked up Chrono Trigger DS recently, and it inspired me to go ahead and translate the BS Chrono Trigger Character Library, using the English names from the DS version. Except in a few places where the text was discussing the Japanese names, in which case the J-name was explained in brackets to help make sense of things. Enjoy!

Thanks a ton! What a fantastic gift to just show up out of nowhere. I'll take it off the requiring translation page, award points, etc. in a bit, as I'm locked up on this take-home final right now.

Thanks so much!

Ahahaha...why didn't we ever think to check the Azala entry while trying to determine her gender? This, not Chrono Trigger DS, is what definitively establishes it as female. We should have checked it...

ja.wikipedia.org said in CTDS's English script, Azala is called a she.
Quote
DS版の英語設定ではアザーラを指して「she」と呼ばれるため、女性と思われる。
That means it is the only place Azala's gender was metioned?

Well, one should consider that the use of "she" for Azala by kobun20 might just be for convenience. The original entry doesn't seem to indicate a gender from what I can tell.

A very minor detail (I noticed this a while ago) that was in the Character Library that we learned about recently is the "Gold Shield" name origin.

Sorry, my bad. I used "she" because the English DS version that I was working from said it was so, not because the Japanese CTCL profile used it. I didn't realize it was still in question whether Azala was a he or a she, or I would have used "it," and I guess for Nizbel and Atropos as well (bein' a robot and all). Japanese is renown for its often lack of gender specific pronouns, but it was getting tiresome calling all the monsters "it"s. I didn't mean to mislead anyone or get false hopes up, so my apologies.

I guess in retrospect, I should have put the Japanese text alongside the translation, and maybe make some translation notes or something to address questions. I certainly should have spell checked, too (but I figured every other weird enemy and place name would come up and I didn't want to deal with it). While I'm mentioning stuff, I tried to pull monster quotes from the DS English script, but I wound up using the SNES script from the Chrono Compendium's Game Scripts page for Masa & Mune, Heckran, and Golem Overlord's lines, not wanting to skip through the game just to try and get to those points again and check. But if someone else wants to, feel free to correct my mistakes.

Oh, it's okay; it was pretty much settled. Yeah, we'll probably put each description on each encyclopedia page for the mosnters/characters.

I'm starting translation work on the "Gamest Coverage" pages.

Hope you like them when they're finished.

Took longer than expected due to Christmas (I still enjoyed it).

Anyways, here's the Gamest Coverage Translation, captions and all.

Enjoy! :D
