I chose Namek because Piccolo wasn't what I was aiming for since I assumed it didn't really look like him. Besides, Frog is named 'Frog' and Piccolo is more than 6 characters.

That makes a lot of sense.  I wasn't thinking in terms of allowed name-length.  Very clever!
