To be honest Zaichi, and this may sound like an ignorant American comment, I wasn't aware that the were other "country" music genres outside of the United States. Although, now thinking on it, any country with a good deal of wilderness would be perfect for it.

I always liked the music composed by Nobuo Uematsu.  Whenever I get the chance, I print out whatever free version of his sheet music I can find and sight read it on the piano (yes, I'm that good).

My favorites are "Waltz for the Moon", "Mods de Chocobo", and some of the other medleys for the different FF games out there.

If it's not video game music, then I always turn to classic and alternative rock, even if it's just for the one or two songs that I really listen to from them.

My favorite bands are Black Sabbath, Rolling Stones, Blue Oyster Cult, Fleetwood Mac, and The Who.

ive taken to techno and that sort of music. i like basshunter's 'walk on water' and his ievan polka mix. i also listen to a lot of remixes of chrono songs, coupled with some final fantasy. oh, and i added a few prerelease tracks to my playlist recently.
i guess i like video game music.

Do you consider "Waltzing Matilda" to be country? I have always considered it to be folk. I'm a big folk fan, actually. The reason I thought Slim Dusty was an American Country Singer is because he looked and sounded like one to me, but I was wrong about that.

I'm not sure if they have "country" in other... countries. Haha. It would probably be more closely labeled to folk music. When we say "country" we usually refer to American Country music because it is very distinctive. Country actually borrows from several genres including folk and bluegrass, so you could say that it exists in other countries, but it is labeled differently (usually as folk).

This song from Custom Robo I find very addicting. It's as though you're facing a god(in game it's pretty close, not quite god level, but close). The techno upbeat add on is also nice. Overall I find the soundtrack to be great.

From Wild Arms 4. I like the stereotypical western sounding tunes, and this is one of the most western sounding songs I've ever heard. Wild Arms games are great, namely for their music. I find them about 6-7/10 generally but what keeps me coming back is their soundtracks(and the fact that, c'mon, how many wild west RPGs are there?)

I originally went on youtube to listen to "Total Eclipse of the Heart" about 20 times in a row because it'd been stuck in my head and this person made me watch this badly sung literal version of the song (it's been going around the internets) 3 times before I cracked and we had this argument about how much I hated the singer D:. The actual lyrics were pretty funny, though. And I remember how when I first saw the music video I thought "This is THE most fucked up music video I've ever seen. Why does it have dancing ninjas again?"

The new CD by The Black Dahlia Murder is amazing. I highly recommend it to fans of death metal/black metal. It is amazingly friendly even to the casual metal listener as well, and their new lead guitar player is SOOO much better than John was. Five Stars.

Is anybody into the dancepunk scene at all? There's a new branch of it forming under our noses that I call electroretro cause it sounds like music that should have been made (and taken seriously) in the 80's but is instead now being made (and taken "ironically") by youngsters with synthesizers.

I give you, if you haven't seen or heard of it already, Natalie Portman's Shaved Head. Zeality may like it, the video is surreal as SHIT.

Also, my favorite for a while now has been the Rapture. That is, favorite "currently still together" band. If dancepunk sounds like something you could get into, this is a great place to start. Their album "Pieces of the People We Love" is bumping, catchy, and full of indie goodness.

I wonder why a bunch of these types of bands have been in commercials lately? My guess is it probably didn't cost as much as radio bands. The most in-your-face example would probably be the "Choke" trailer with the "Clap Your Hands Say Yeah" song "Satan Said Dance". That came on hulu for like every video for months til the movie came out.

I've only recently discovered this guy, and I'm really amazed by him.  I've yet to look up much beyond youtube videos and Amazon MP3 downloads, so I don't have much background to present here, aside from, "Check out these videos!"  Kailash Kher is one hell of a singer and performer!

I don't know what to make of this last video!  I'm both impressed and intrigued by it, and it's surpassed all of my preconceived notions of "Bollywood" style music videos.  I'm wondering if this is representative of the current trends in Indian music videos.
