Damn IRC! It wont let me back in
I was logged in just a moment ago...
Is something wrong with it? Or should I just keep trying till i get sick of pressing "click to reconnect"?

Nope not working any more, keeps disconnecting me as well.

Looks like my connection's been kind of spotty lately. My ISP isn't too great it seems, so I might have to find another connection to stick the IRC server on. If things fail, try again a few times in an hour or so, and it might be back.

As more people try to use it and I finish experimenting with servers and services, I'll line up some cheap dedicated hosting to move it to along with a few other things in a few months or so.

You don't need to PM him, he knows that some peopl can't connect. The IRC has some slight server issues, and Ramsus is working to fix it.

I noticed something interesting in the Status screen. Apparently, the max user amount is 3, which could be very bad if not resolved by the time the CE parteh happens. And considering this Xenor fellow is constantly idling there... that could be very very bad.

The reason why people can't connect is because he has it where a max of 3 people can only connect to the server. me and Teaflower noticed this earlier today.

Quote
*** 3 3 Current local users: 3, Max: 3
*** 3 3 Current global users: 3, Max: 3

teaflower beat me to it. lol

Thanks for the feedback everyone. The current max user problem should be fixed now.

I noticed something interesting in the Status screen. Apparently, the max user amount is 3, which could be very bad if not resolved by the time the CE parteh happens. And considering this Xenor fellow is constantly idling there... that could be very very bad.

That's just the maximum number of users that have been online since the daemon was last started. The max number of connections/users is set to 100.

The real problem was that the max number of connections per IP address was set to 2, but the CGI script uses the server's IP address every time, so only 2 people could connect with it. I fixed this after Shinrin's PM made it apparent that somehow the number of users was being limited.

You don't need to PM him, he knows that some peopl can't connect. The IRC has some slight server issues, and Ramsus is working to fix it.

Sorry, but I'm actually a bit more out of the loop than you might expect. Part of it is being a workaholic with my job, and part of it is being in a completely different timezone than most of the users on the site.

So if you can, try to encourage people to post all their problems with the IRC server and also post back whenever they seem fixed. That way I can get everything working properly sooner.

Also, I need to PM Ramus about not being able to connect though an IRC client.

I can connect just fine using irssi, but I'm physically close to the server. If yourself and others can report all of their attempts with their own IRC clients, I'd appreciate it. I'm thinking there might be some routing issues.

AIM - RedNeckCowBoy007
Yahoo! - rebel_cowboy_1984
MSN - rodeo_redneck at hotmail.com

I hardly ever use MSN anymore because of the spambots.

Guess I'll hafta learn about IRC, now...

NickServ and ChanServ are now set up with the IRC server. To register a name with NickServ, use the following command:

/msg NickServ REGISTER yourpassword youremail@address

From then on you can use "/msg NickServ identify yourpassword" after signing in with your nickname to maintain control over it.

I encourage people to go through and try some of these IRC clients and report back on whether or not any of them are lightweight and easy to use.

So far, this one looks pretty straightforward. If the CGI IRC client is a bit hard on your system, you might download and use that one instead.

I'm trying out that 0irc you linked, but I'm having trouble figuring out where to change the port. Straightforward aside from that. Might figure it out after another hour of tinkering..
