With Magus I'm slightly conflicted cause a part of me agrees that townspeople would sitll call him Magus, but as Z said (were discussing this in the other forum) while the hardcore CT people will catch that they should be calling him Magus instead of the rename, I think that the majority of people would just think it's a bug and be telling us that we screwed up.

We sort of made a mistake and should have just used some sort of pronoun or title in 605 AD but I think going through and trying to find them all would result in more bugs.

That's why I'd rather we use the DS translation; Fiendlord would be the title we're looking for. I don't think it would be too tedious to go through the locations and replace the occurences. Besides, I still haven't played the game in a linear fashion myself for a long time, and I need to do it eventually because I'm sure there are still a few plotholes lying around and plot details to adjust.

Ugh not Fiendlord, please no. Out of anything I really hated the DS translation.

What about "the Magus?" You've got all the bases covered that way. Even if the player renames Magus "Bob," he'll always be the Magus who ruled over the Mystics. I always viewed it as a title myself.

I agree as a consumer of CE that "Fiendlord" sounds way too corny, but I have to admit, it would be neat if Marle called Magus "the Friendlord" just once, and specifically to piss him off.

To make it better, why not have Magus' default name be Janus? Since he is no longer the Lord of the Mystics, he should regain his original name. That way, NPCs continue to call him Magus, while the PCs and close NPCs call him Janus, or whatever you name him.

Ew, I don't think he ever becomes Janus again (I'm not even entirely comfortable with Schala calling him that...I think he should preempt her from continuing to call him that)...I think that's partially why he didn't go by Janus anymore, because that's just not who he is anymore. If anything, I'd be more willing to go with Magil/Gil since that seems to be what all the evidence seems to point at him eventually becoming, though CTDS showed us when that occurs...

I'm also not for the CTDS translation "Fiendlord"...if you're going to make a Compendium sequel and use a retranslation, how about go more literal and go with Demon King (Maou would probably be a bit much for some people who are unfamiliar, I guess)?

Alright, back to the game...! Now it's, uh, Robo & Lucca's (what a jump in power from Marle to these two!) time to shine...!

An Emerald Dream II

There seems like a crazy bit on the 2305AD world map (when you hit select) on the right (it's like a big island of squareness?)...  JP NOTE: Either me or 99 must have left it there (probably me) it's just a copy of all the tiles, it's useful to put them on the map to check their tile priority/solidity, must have forgotten and left it there

Wait, the Operator robot says it's 2302 A.D....which is it?  JP NOTE: Fix'd in newr patch

On the physical world map, there's some strange...thing...in the water south of Tixiz Dome.  JP NOTE: Fix'd in newer patch? (I dont see it atleast)

Shouldn't the map say A.H.? Or is the Dinopolis News Uplink the one that's wrong? The throne thing in the entrance to Dinopolis also says A.D. so maybe it isn't supposed to be A.H.? JP NOTE: It's connected to the same one as Chronopolis (so you change one you change another), pretend it's robo's sensors that are showing you the date....

In the Residence north-east of Dinopolis, there's some transparency issues with the uppermost table (noticeable when you walk with Robo on its left side).  JP NOTE: Stupid fat robo *grumble grumble grumble*

When the other robot comes in to talk to the Operator, it seems to walk through the box on the bottom at the table.

While I was fighting Alkaline & Acids (for about the trillionth time, getting a healthy dose of EXP, TP & Mid Ethers), I think one of the Mid Ethers' names got messed up...I didn't get a chance to screen grab it, but it reminded me of the Wolflobe sword (do we know what caused the whole Wolflobe sword thing to happen, anyways? i know the word itself was a combination of the wood iron & w/e swords, but i mean like what caused the glitch in the first place?), but I was clicking through too fast to see what it said...  JP NOTE: this is probably impossible for me to fix, I'm not sure what caused the wolflobe sword glitch

What the heck just happened to the VisionSrpnt's sprite? After it attacked with one of those pink ray things, it's like the corners of its mouth & its little side wings died or something...>_>  JP NOTE: Are you talking about the very beginning of the battle?  If so that's been fix'd

Sweet! Fire Tackle's my first 1000+ HP attack...!

In the room with the gate past the Vision Serpent, there's some transparency issues with the railing on the right.

Quote from: robot NPC (Residence)
after terra tower text

That's the robot NPC on the top part looking at the wall monitor screen (obviously after defeating the Vision Serpent in Dinopolis). JP NOTE: Bug'd for zeality

Quote from: reptite NPC (Info Center)
After Vision Serpent defeated text

That's the reptite NPC in the main room near the bookshelf.  JP NOTE: Bug'd for zeality

In the 2nd area after you arrive with Crono, Frog & Magus, there's some transparency issues with the rock right at the entrance.

Ugh, I just died...Again, seems like maybe there should be a save point upon arrival...though admittedly, the battle I died on I could have avoided...>_>

I think I'll stop here for now...

One thing that I've been thinking about is that I hope that eventually there's a place where I'll be able to change characters' names again (maybe another Naming Nu?)...  JP NOTE: ask and ye shall receive...it's there, but only after a certain chapter and in a place you probably wouldn't expect.

An Emerald Dream III

Coyopa refers to an A.G. (After Guardia)? Was that supposed to be used in that Dinopolis future?  JP NOTE: bug'd for zeality

Sorin...Noris backwards...? >_>

Alright, the scene with Crono & Marle's skeleton is a bit...disturbing...Further magnified by the reptite's line of "I have a family!" before Crono goes nutso & kills them...Seems like Frog should say that Crono's been spending too much time around Magus or something...  JP NOTE: Zeality? ZEALITY: ...That'd be like Frog joking, but it's too serious

Jesus, if you go to switch characters (how I quickly rearrange my party) behind Marle's skeleton, when you come back, you'll be invisible or something...it takes a bit of moving & switching back & forth from the character switch screen to get back to the land of visibility...

This team doesn't have any multi-targeting double Techs...! :P JP NOTE: Total coincidence

Damn, I hope all of the items I've gotten from 1AD Dinopolis wouldn't have gotten more powerful if I had waited...V_V

I went with Save Ayla again, but again it doesn't seem to have changed anything immediate...  JP NOTE: Immediate....

Stain of Regency

Quote
CHRONOPOLIS NEWS UPLINK -
...Displaying.

April 24, 2302 A.D. - BL...ERROR.

- DISPLAY COMPLETE -

Is that supposed to be like that? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be showing how all the time gunk is messing with stuff or if it's an actual error of some kind...  JP NOTE: I think it's rebel base cutting of transition

In the Coliseum, during the dual Golem fight, when the right one uses electrical discharge, it's sprite turns into a mess (just for while it uses it though)...Wh00t! Finally went through it with a party on easy...Spekkio pwnt me in normal mode...>_>

That seemed like a strangely short chapter...I think I'm gonna quit at the Founding of Guardia...

Alright, so my "week" has been more like a couple months...but before I continue, I need to ask: Will me continuing from this point with w/e the newest patch still be helpful? Should I bother to continue is what I'm asking or is it too late to bother?

EDIT: Just noticed there's a FINAL beta patch, so does that answer my question?? >_>

definitely continue the game man.  I'll still be watching these threads like a hawk and making sure anything posted is fixed up before release.  We just got some aces up our sleeves in the private build that I don't want anyone seeing.

Alright then, I'm totally ready...took me a while to realize that I WAS back in solo Marle mode with "Founding of Guardia", but here we go...!

Founding of Guardia

Ah, this is my first time seeing the new item descriptions! Are they not all done? Or will not all items get them...? Crono's Shima & Ryuraizan swords don't have any... JP NOTE: I think not all  are going to get them...I put what Z gave me so he can comment more

The Uniform item's description is "Porre uniforms (sort of smelly", with the end parenthesis missing...might be cut-off from character limits...maybe "sorta" or "kinda" would shorten it up better? Or wait, I guess it's just missing because the KnaveHelm description is much longer but fits...  JP NOTE: Yup missed a parenthesis.....er paren? not sure what the singular is

In the Guardia Clan tent to the left, there's some transparency issues with the pot to the right of the cookfire (if you circle around when the soldier NPC is to the left you can walk on top of the pot).  JP NOTE: man that stupid soldier is annoying to get around

In the Porre Clan tent to the right, there's a kid who says, "Daddy says we can live peacefully once the last Guardia is dead!!"...Should that be "Guardian" or is that just child-speak of some kind? JP NOTE: not any child speak that i know of

In the Lost Woods, 2nd screen, there's some transparency issues with the tree to the left of the Kilwalla looking at the water (it's also to the right of the Speed Tab)...same with the other tree on the right under the Fossil Ape. I guess there's only 2 trees in that area really...
I also still think the surface of the water looks weird...too many square or straight-lined edges...

In the Battlefield, the 2nd area, top right near the Guardian soldier NPC that says "They aren't so tough without their armor!", there's transparency issues with the plants you can move next to that are on the cliff wall.

I think it was only after the last battle on that 2nd area, but that Guardian soldier NPC then gets some transparency issues when you approach from below (his sprite is over Marle's)... JP NOTE: I couldn't repro this....and I'm not 100% sure I'd know how to fix it minus having him just run away after the battle...was it hte same guard who was in front of the bad plants above?

After I was done with the battles in that 2nd area I backtracked out and then came back and that same Guardian soldier NPC is the only one that disappeared...>_> JP NOTE: I'm ok with that if he had transperency issues....he went to help cedriic..:)  Which might actually be what I do if I can repro that transperency issue

Right before the Heckran battle, on that arch opening hole,  there's a square with transparency issues on the top right part of it...

There's some transparency issues with the plant next to the water's edge to the left of the battle with the Porrean guy who got the Frozen Flame.

Two boss battles and saving him from getting snuck up from behind and all Marle gets is her own last name?? wtf Cedric, your quest reward totally sucked.  JP NOTE: For awhile she didn't even get that :)

The Gray Forgotten

Alright! Team Magus, Lucca & Robo...!

Uh, actually, I guess this'll be it for now...There seems like so much to do now that I have access to Chronopolis and a full party again...

The Gray Forgotten

Strange, Crono's Rainbow sword isn't organized with his other swords, but at the end of the weapons' list after Magus' scythes...>_>  JP NOTE:....uh goofy no idea why.  I can't remember how do you get that sword? A Sidequest?

Well, damn, having Crono's Rainbow sword totally makes me want to use him instead of Lucca right now...narf...

In the rebel base area where you turn off the backup generator, that grating to the left ends up going over the sprites, but only if you approach it by going diagonally up & left...

In that final area of rebel base, if you're on the bottom part, you can still talk to the two guys that are on the upper area...and there's also a tiny bit of transparency issues with the bottom of their feet when you do so. JP NOTE: that actually kills another problem I was having with this area, sweet.

Hmmm...I wonder if all of those options change anything...>_>  JP NOTE: they do :)

Animal Persistence

Ack! Stuck with Frog!

In the dispatch chamber, right when you enter, all along the bottom, Frog's shadow peeks through if you're facing down (or if you go to run upwards for that matter).

Hmmm, all of the dials for the Epoch 2 have the same year readout as the original Epoch except for 2302 AD.  JP NOTE: Yea, the years all share th e"0" graphic, so if we change one 0 to a 5, they will all change to 5 :(

Well, I decided to check out Crono's house in 1005 with a party of Frog, Crono & Magus, since I was here and this is what happens...

Quote
GINA: Hello, everyone! I wonder where
you've all been off to. Keep an eye on
Zenan Bridge, okay?

Crono! Be careful, now!

Crono: You got it. Seeya.

GINA: Hello, everyone! I'm glad you're
back. Are you here to defend Truce? I
expect you and Crono to be here
at a moment's notice, got it?

...Apparently two welcome responses got tacked on to one another or some such.    JP NOTE: .......that's a situation.  This happens to me via the debug room quite a bit.  It can happen if more than one of the "helped porre"/ "helped mystics", "declared neutrality" bits are set.... Um.....I dont know what happened in your game to get to this state, are a bunch of the NPC's in 1005 saying two things?

Ugh, so much to explore...! I'm gonna stop here for now.

Hmm, I didn't notice any note thingies on the post before that...Just wondering if they were checked or w/e too...anyways...

You get the Rainbow sword from the Coliseum place for 250 w/e points...

I haven't checked the other NPCs yet, but will later tonight.

Okay, I guess from now on if I want to beta I'll have to completely log off and not do the updates directly into a post but instead do it all offline & just in a separate Notepad file first...

Animal Persistence

Well, it does indeed seem as though multiple NPCs have lines from different options, some of them are kind of hard to spot because the lines are so different or else don't mention certain things specificially, but the window actually closes for a second (well, closer to half a second or something) and then opens the other option's dialog...I'll list as many as I spot...

In the Residence connected to Crono's house, this one's kind of obvious when you read it...

Quote from: NPC girl
Really, what could Porre do if they
attacked Guardia? The Vanguard would
stop them, and if not, Medina and Choras
would get involved.

I'm concerned. I've got my things
packed in case Medina and Porre get
nasty. Well, no offense to the Vanguard
or you guys, but...

Hey, I just noticed, but there's no Poyozo note at the Truce Market (but the desk still says the note when you interact with it)...anyways...

At the Truce Inn..,The guy at the bar (not the armored one), this one isn't obvious as two parts except for the close & opened text window between the lines...

Quote from: NPC guy
Medina's relationship with Guardia
makes Porre feel surrounded by
hostility on all sides. Cornered dogs
attack.

The Mystics never did lilke the Vanguard,
and amazingly, they've allied with
Porre. What are we supposed to do?

Much the same with the waitress there...

Quote from: NPC maid
I'm glad Medina is still reasonable. We
get our share of Mystic customers,
strange tastes and all.

Ugh, these soldiers! They just blast in,
spill their drinks, and fight their way
out!

And the guard at the table behind the piano player (a little more obvious, especially with the odd break after only 2 lines)...

Quote from: NPC guard
This brew hits the spot. Comes with the
Medina ferry on Thursdays.

I watch Zenan Bridge by day, and worry
about that Medina ferry by night. Time
to unwind!

The woman at the top of the stairs is even more noticable and also has a large gap in her first lines (after "rough,")...the second option line is after the second break, btw (very obvious)...

Quote from: NPC woman
I'm glad the Mystics are keeping a cool
head during this crisis. They had it
rough,
but the Vanguard's heroism in 605 A.D.

inspired their future leaders.

The Vanguard's strict historic justice has
left Truce without allies. Now's the time
to negotiate...

The woman sitting in the Truce-side ferry...

Quote from: NPC woman
Building a ferry to Medina was, in
hindsight, a foreign policy coup.

...I remember you guys. I'm taking my
little girl to Choras. Please, do something
about this state of affairs...

Even Taban (the second option line is after the second break)...and on the part where he says, "What if we somehow detonate the Sun Stone's energy!" it should probably be a question mark, right?

Quote from: Taban
...I've got it! What if we build a
tunneling drill that can create an
underground passage to Porre?

Eh, no, no...uh...

...I've got it! What if we somehow
detonate the Sun Stone's energy! It'd
make a massive explosion capable of
wiping out entire armies and tracts of

land!

Eh...no, what am I saying...um...

Lara too, and hers is more obvious because it's clearly two welcomes...

Quote from: Lara
Nice to see you guys! Everything's
fine here.

Hello, everyone. I hope you've
come to help the situation here...our
era needs the most attention, right?

Alright, now in the Cathedral...The first guy at the entrance...

Quote from: NPC guy
We're starting a partnership program
with Medina. Should be a hit!

I wonder how the nuns of the Middle
Ages coped with being surrounded on all
sides by war...

The guard in the middle chamber...

Quote from: NPC guard
The bishop is thinking about visiting
Porre. They wouldn't dare touch him.

Everyone here is convinced it's the
apocalypse.

The Mystic at the front right bench...

Quote from: NPC Mystic
Strange...I feel some kind of magic
energy residue coming from that organ.
Must be from that Yakra business
centuries ago.

I've hidden a cache of weapons in the
cathedral, in case we have to make a stand here.

The Mystic near the back of the chamber...

Quote from: NPC Mystic
What a big sanctum! Only Medina Square
possibly compares.

Make your peace...the dark times are
coming, before the everlasting dawn
will break!

Now in the left area of the Cathedral...The left soldier...

Quote from: NPC soldier
Durr, I'm from Porre! I'm gonna gitcha!

Oh, I recognize you guys. I didn't say
this, but I think the Choras Mayor, if the
cards were really down, might not help
Truce after all...

The right soldier (the second option dialog is after the first break)...

Quote from: NPC soldier
Avast ye heathen! The Vanguard's honor
wills it!

The last thing Choras wants is to get the
evil eye Medina and Porre exclusively
reserve for Guardia

But we've got to show our support.

Now in the Vanguard Post...The soldier walking in place nearest the doors (very obvious option double dialog)...

Quote from: NPC soldier
The foundations of this place run deep.
A few angry Porreans won't uproot
honor.

The foundations of this place run deep.
Not even the world's angry hordes can
uproot honor.

Off to Medina...Doesn't look like anyone here has any of those problems...hey! A name-change Nu! Aw, I can only change Frog's name because he's stuck in the lead spot...Oh well, I guess I'll name him Kaeru while I've got the chance...

Now for Choras...!

Geeze, still Mid Ethers & Dash Rings at the Auction House...maybe it's because my Frog isn't at level 40 yet with some of the others...Looks like none of the NPCs in Choras have that problem either...a Galaxy Card, huh...Once I gave the Museum curator the WoodenIdol and the WoodenSpoons they didn't seem to appear anywhere in the Museum even after exiting & entering again...hmm...

And in Porre...the soldier in the Porre Market...

Quote from: NPC soldier
What do you want? Soldiers get first
picks of items and weapons here.

Our swords are fine, but Mystic blades
are even better...

In the Snail Stop...the soldier standing in front of the bar...

Quote from: NPC soldier
I'll gladly take orders. As soon as they
give the order to ransack Zenan Bridge
and the Vanguard!

I underestimated Montcrief. He's the new
Chief Commander! We're gonna be rich!

In the Soldier Housing...The soldier sitting on the left of the table...

Quote from: NPC soldier
Montcrief's prowess is unmatched by
anyone in Guardia. Especially that stupid
Vanguard.

Montcrief's been promoted to Chief
Commander of the Armed Forces of
Porre for his work on the Tank and
negotiations with Medina.

The soldier on the right of the table...

Quote from: NPC soldier
Years ago, the Vanguard massacred
Porre troops to protect Kasmir's forces.
It's time they paid!

Years ago, the Vanguard stood by while
Porrean and Mystics slaughtered each
other. Now, the two nations have
recognized their true enemy.

Now to 605 AD...! I'm very confused about wtf is up with the Mystic Den...

Well, now off to 11,995 BC...! Hey, with one broad stroke one Zealian man in the First Village washes away any theory that the Nu somehow originated from Zeal...

Quote from: NPC Zealian man
Nu are very strange beings. Legend
has it, they simply appeared to the
builders of Zeal one day.

Nothing else off here, I guess...the "Zeal Ruins?" seems like it's going to be interesting...

Off to the End of Time...! Holy shit...looks like this area isn't finished yet...? Ah, it's the Developers' room...

Quote from: CYBERSNARKANY
(insert text)

Quote from: DARKKEN
(insert text)

Quote from: VEHEK
(insert text)

Quote from: FAUSTWOLF
(insert text)

lol! Vehek is a scrap of paper and FW is balloons!

On with the story in the Prehistoric age...! If you land the Epoch 2 on the top cliff area where the Tacdyl next was, you can walk through that structure thing that's there...a watchtower I guess?

Sweet, now I get get rid of Frog! Just got the PaxGuardia too though, which is pretty good...Oh well...I'll switch some names around (& fix "Gil  " too)...Crono=Serge (you can't be Crono, but Crono can be you!), Lucca=Elle (Magness ref!) & Marle=Marl (romanization!).

Hmmm, seems like maybe I wasn't supposed to switch Frog out so soon because when I get back to Ayla's tent, even though my party is Magus, Crono & Robo again, Frog's dialog shows up as if he's the lead spot after Schala asks you if everything's alright...

Quote from: Frog
Yeah. She's one of the
Xamoltan, but things will be all right.

Kong comes in and Frog mysteriously speaks through Magus again...>_>

Quote from: Frog
What the...

Kong bitches about challenging...and again, Magus speaks in Frog-tongues (so to speak)...

Quote from: Frog
Is this guy serious?

And then again Frog speaks through Magus...

Quote from: Frog
Ugh, hold on! I'll answer the
challenge for Ayla! I can do that,
right?

...and more...

I'm going to get medieval on
you!

...and again...

Well, someone needs to put
this guy in his place...

Uh, I did the challenge with Kong (still w/o Frog) and got 4...and then got stuck in this loop with Kong saying this message that keeps repeating itself and I can't get out of it...

Quote from: Kong
Haha! You caught 4 frogs. Kong
catch 4 frogs, Kong wins! Challenge
again?

I don't know how a tie equals him winning either, but whatever...good thing I save stated before this...Or, wait, I save stated while the competition started and I can't switch Frog in during to do the stupid dance...Guess I'll reset & load my save of before Kong did his whole challenge shpeel...

Alright, Frog, good job...Sweet! Now I'm Ayla!

Hmmm, when Ayla talks to Lucca & Frog and Frog jokingly mentions him having claim to Chief, he whips out his sword, but it's all glowy & pink...>_>

Okay, went back to Chronopolis, took Frog out again, and talked to Belthasar downstairs and Gil said he felt something and we were in the Black Omen Ruins' Mammon Machine room with Schala near it and teh Masamune above her...I tried to interact with it behind and the Masamune turned into a jumbled mass of sprite...I also can't get out and nothing happens anywhere...after another reset I realized again that the fault lies with taking Frog out of the lead spot...

The Glare of Midnight

I wonder if now I'm supposed to be able to take Frog out of the party or not yet...well, anyways, I think I'll end it for now...
