Chrono Cross Ultimania Scanning Completed! Translators Needed!
« on: February 12, 2009, 09:01:08 pm »
Hey everyone!

It's your resident Chrono source book scanner and I've just gotten a hold of a copy of Chrono Cross Ultimania.

Just like with Chrono Trigger Ultimania, I'll be scanning a good portion of it for people to translate and/or to create scanlations from.

If anyone is interested in translating anything from it, please let me, FaustWolf, or ZeaLitY know and we'll provide you with scans to translate off of.

Also, if you have any page requests to be scanned, please let me know that as well.

Thanks for your help, everyone!

Alright, I've finally finished scanning the Chrono Cross Ultimania

There are about 121 scans in all which cover the all the characters, all the enemies, some of the other sections interspersed, and the entire "Secrets" section has been scanned, which has the interviews and the "links" to Chrono Trigger and Radical Dreamers pages.

If anyone is interested in translating please post here, and I'll be happy to provide you with the scans.

Thanks for your help, everyone!

ZeaLitY should have the links now. I guess the next step is prioritizing the pages (Secrets section comes first probably) for translation.

Well. just to keep things moving along, I decided to post the translation of the 96 secrets listed in the guide.  This is just the names/titles of the secrets, not the whole blurb for each one.  The reasons why I did it this way are:  Most of the secrets are just bizarre animations or useless minutia; Most of the secrets are well known and already readily available in English guides/FAQs; Most importantly, it would take me a lot longer to translate all of that stuff and this way everyone can get an idea about what the topics are and follow up with more focused questions or comments from there :D.

That said, this was a lot harder than I thought it’d be :?.  Mainly because of trying to figure out what character/place/item/element they were talking about.  Apparently, I don’t really remember CC as well as I thought I did – that and the fact that the Japanese and English names are often completely different.  For that reason, this comes with a big disclaimer that there is a sizeable amount of information here that I am not particularly confident in.  I just don’t know the name of ピパピパ in English, and honestly, with my dial-up connection, didn’t have the motivation to go Googling.  I will, however, try my best to follow up and revise this as I confirm some of these things.  And one last note, the next section I am looking at is dedicated to the connection between the Chrono games.  Sounds a lot more promising than it actually reads, but nonetheless I'll let you know more about as soon as I can.  楽しみにしてね.

(EDIT:  Big thanks to Chrono99 for helping me with the correct names of people and places from CC. :lee:)

Interesting! So it's really Spekkio in the Bend of Time...

I think ピパピパ was translated as Beeba in the English version: http://www11.plala.or.jp/tonberry/cro/cro_monster.html

Wind Song Cape is Cape Howl, Blue Gentian flower is Bellflower, and Harley is Harle. Anyway, huge thanks, Lorenz :)

Pages 460 - 461

Chrono Trigger Section

What mysteries would these pages unravel?  The true fate of Magus?  Dalton's rise to power?  Why Chrono waited until ending 12 to start talking?  Nope.  Nothing.  Absolutely zilch.  Sadly, this section is just the Cliff's Notes version of CT, for those CC fans who missed it, I suppose.  So, if you were confused by cyptic references to "Lucca," "Lavos" or "Repites," then this chapter should be fascinating.

Well dudes... I'd love to help out. Interested in someone who can lend a hand with english-to-spanish translations?
Sorry, my japanese is a bit 'rusty' (non-existent, actually, as of yet. This is actually something I intend to fix sometime in the near future, wish me luck with the lessons )
