Look at all the lines on Maverick, too much. To me it loses it's distinctiveness.

That's Fayt Leingod (from SO3). Edge Maverick is the new game (SO4)'s hero.

Check XII out. If X disappointed you (like me at first), you may enjoy XII.
X mainly disappointed me in the simple fact that it was not challenging at all.  Especially the final boss.  Not spoiling anything, but after I won the final fight I literally dropped my controller and yelled "THAT'S IT?!!?"

Breath of Fire IV on the other hand, that had a final boss that left you feeling like you just climbed Mt. Everest.

The boss battles along the story line of FFXII are pretty easy to win, but the game has an awesome bounty hunter sidequest filled with monsters that you have to really work at to kill. and it spans the entire length of the game, more than making up for the lack of challenge to get to the end of the game. Still has a pretty good story line, too, though.

I think he knew that, he was just pointing out an earlier character design in comparison with the one he already posted.  At least that's the impression I got.

We'll see.  Haven't picked up any PS2 titles in ages.  Far too many good ones on my 360 and DS to pick from.

Also if you want a game with hard bosses, check out Blue Dragon, some of those bosses can get you to pull out a few clumps of hair in rage.

Yes, I was able to beat all of the bosses of the bounty hunter sidequest except for boss number 50. The last one. Which is quite possibly the hardest boss in any RPG ever. This is for FouCapitan, and it isn't much of a spoiler, but:

You have to kill the fucker 50 times. FIFTY TIMES. Literally. His HP bar is composed of little mini-bars, each one representing a single HP bar which has a million HP. That means this boss has FIFTY MILLION HP. I'm not joking.

So FouCapitan, if it is hard bosses you want, FF XII's bounty quest is the way to go.

It really isn't hard to kill it. I spent five hours doing the same 2 commands over and over while my gambits took care of the rest. And it's really impossible to kill it without gambits. RPG bosses aren't hard, they're annoyingly long. At least now they are. It should be strategy not amount of time.

yeah, it gets pretty intense. Makes for some pretty epic battles. Most memorable for me was the fight against Gilgamesh. battle lasted about half an hour and I had to turn Gambits off because they were holding me back. (they didn't happen quick enough)

I did the same thing. Gilgamesh owned my ass so many times. I was psyched when I first saw him. It's the first time that you got to fight him since FF V I believe.

I really like FF XII. And on the topic of character designs - I really like the character designs for FF XII a lot. Now the character development was a bit lacking, but I think the game made up for it with its' massively expansive environment, bounty hunts, and overall fun-ness.

Does anyone know if XIII's battle system is gonna be like XII's or like the decrepit battle system of old FF's?

I hope it's real time. I'm getting to really hate turn-based fighting.

well, turn-based just requires very little skill to operate. Real-time fighting on the other hand, requires some skill to pull off decently, and a lot of skill to pull of magnificently. It's the challenge that I look for.

This guy... was he in the... Colosseum of Ridoranna? I think my brother tried to take that guy on... but he failed.
