Son of Sun challenge
« on: January 24, 2009, 06:19:08 pm »
K, so  New Game+,  trying to use Robo with the Apocalypse Arm + Dragon Tear to kill the 5 flames around it first.   Last night I got him down to one flame but won the fight before I could kill off the last flame.  Interestingly enough, after a roulette spin I hit the last flame and it generated the Miss: counterattack  (meaning for that round SoS was unable to be damaged). Then after another roulette spin I hit the flame and won the fight, damnit.

Has anyone ever been able to destroy all the flames before winning the fight?  I wonder what happens...

You can get the front two without damaging the main guy by using Black Hole. You'll still get counterattacked if they don't get sucked in though.

Has anyone managed to get Robo to Critical Hit the main SoS? I tried this the last time I fought him, but he kept normal attacking. Oh well, I use Red Plates anyway so it wasn't a total loss.

It isn't possible.  Its the same with Cyrus's ghost - if the attack will always miss, Robo will never do the critical hit strike.

Hmm... I see. Thanks for the info. I was thinking of trying again, but now I won't.

You can deal damage to Cyrus' Ghost though...It just has to be non-Elemental (of which there's only a couple Techs like Poyozo Dance for instance)...

Looks like it might be just Poyozo Dance & Ayla's Tail Spin.

My guess is the fight will either go into a stalemate, or the Son will eventually die the regular way without his flames.

I actually tried this a while ago.  I wrote about it here:

The short version is that once all 5 prominence are gone, you win the battle automatically shortly after.

Ah cool.  Well, I don't have to worry about trying that anymore then.
 Thanks!   8)
