ill stop now before i start rambling
Before you
start to ramble...?
Uh...but seriously...There's only one of two things happening right now in Square-Enix's pov of the Chrono series...
1. No talent available. ie they just need time to work out a few of the other many, many serieses (uh...can series be pluraled? wait...can plural be a verb?) before they get to Chrono again...I think Kato and Mitsuda are back though, or at the very least pretty much every main person responsible for the Chrono series is freelance...So maybe they're waiting until they can scrape the money together to make something really great and get all the big-wigs back together...
2. They don't think the Chrono series is that popular. I personally love the series...But the fact is, there's only been two games released in the states...And I'm not sure how well it did in Japan, which is a major clincher seeing how the company that makes the games is, well, based in Japan...The biggest game, Chrono Trigger, was a 16-Bit classic...But back then, RPGs weren't quite as big as they are today, or, heck not even as big as they were in the last era (32-bit). Chrono Cross did well, but it didn't get loads of attention from newer gamers because it came out in a point in time when a lot of NA gamers were pretty much just clammoring over anything with the words Final Fantasy in the title (which, sadly continues with each new era and game).
But I believe people have started to broaden their horizons and I think Square-Enix has picked up on this. Over the last few years we've seen them pick up some of their slightly older serieses (damn that word!) and I think that brings some hope for a new Chrono game too...
Whew...talk about rambling, right?
