Which version of Chrono Trigger has the best translation? (Poll)

Yes, I am curious as to what everyone thinks has the best translation of the game.

Also, if you don't mind, please state your stance and back it up.

Cheers!

The DS version. It's not hindered by censorship and even has the sense to keep some fan favorites. Overall, it's simply better written.

I voted for the DS version, but I think that the original version is bashed way too much. Woolsey did a hell of a job with what he had to work with and he made the games more interesting in a way that was interesting for us all when we were younger, and didn't worry about such things.

The DS version has the better translation, in my opinion.

Define "best."

I think Woolsey's is the funnest, but it's obviously not the most accurate (though, considering the limited time and censorship he had to deal with, that's not his fault).

I liked Woosley's. It was more casual , entertaining, and funnier, where the ds retranslation is to formal and took out some of the great dialogue and was too serious.

I haven't played CTDS yet, but I have read the Compendium's Re-translation (assuming it's that one that KWhazit did), and I remember the Original SNES translation. So that leaves me neutral until I play CTDS.

I'll edit this, and then vote, after I have played CTDS.

Woosley for being more fun, CT:DS for an overall better translation.

"Best" is extremely subjective. CTDS has the most "accurate" translation, but I prefer the old CT translation without Mystics=Fiends and "Good Morning Crono!" still left in.

DS version. No censorship, little more mature, but it still holds the old, light-hearted CT feel and appeals to the American audience.

Uh, I'm fairly sure the Compendium's translation is more accurate...There's still far too much localization to the DS one, though it is better than the original's...but Woosley was under all sorts of constraints at the time, so he gets a pass, I guess...

That is...until the Compendium manages to translate the DS Japanese script, of course...lol
