Machine won't let me type password at 990AD

I am normally suppose to be at Ocean Palace but I took a side-trip to revive Fiona's forest and am now at Lucca's house but it won't let me type in L-A-R-A.    It doesn't register even though the machine says "Enter Password"  What be wrong with machine?

FYI:   Chrono LV 45

          Lucca: LV41

         Robo:   LV44

SNES version... Hm... you sure you putting it in right?  Remember that you have to wait for the beep to sound, you can't press A during or after it, or the code gets messed.

...How is it you are at Ocean Palace AND reviving Fiona's forest? That sidequest doesn't become available until you talk to the girl with the plant and tell her to keep it alive. And that comes AFTER the ocean Palace is destroyed. Maybe that's the problem?

No, you can meet the woman with the plant before Zeal is destroyed and tell her to keep the plant alive then.

That's odd:  I did the exact same thing before the Ocean place then went to the Sunken desert with Chrono after leaving the Ocean Palace before Lavos cause I wanted a chance to level up some more and I learned new spells on teh way.    I defeated "Bad bones" as Ayala called him.    I went to Fiona with Robo and he turned into tractor mode then yada yada.   

 I made duplicate copys right before the red portal appeared so I can go back and try what I did wrong on other file.     

There is no "beep" as you put it.    Just a noise like you make an error even if you don't press anything after 5 seconds.      It just doesn't register me.

And it's definitely not something simple like messed up keys on your controller? In all honesty, I've never tried this, but why would it let you into that little quest without letting you fulfill it? If anything it shouldn't have let you there in the first place, if you weren't ready.

Isn't there something like you have to make sure you're not pressing something to make the dialog window disappear or something? I forget between this and entering Sabin's Blitzes in FFVI...

I am going to go back and not press ANYTHING until that window disappears.    It's a bit unnerving to hear her legs get cut off.

I guess you need gameshark to do password as machine does no change if buttons pressed.     Maybe on Emulator there is cheat.  X:

There is no confirm noise to let me know I am pressing ANYTHING.     I think I got a glitched version.  Someday I will try it on emumalator and post the news.    No It's not a typo as I like to call it that and it sounds cool.

You just have to press L A R A immediately in the right order, without pausing in between. If it really doesn't work I think it might be the controller.
