No, not really.  I wasn't ever really able to find Atlas either...so no.

MSVCP70.DLL is needed to run it.

The battle gauage is appearing for "00" which is the only byte that will end the item there and move onto the next one...

The English ROM normally uses EF to end an item string.  Japanese uses FF.  Not sure how the patch you are using works.

I could easily move the items to empty space, but then that brings up the big part of the error.  If you want to edit item names, you have to do it via hex.  Temporal Flux CANNOT edit it.  Apparently TF doesn't read the pointers, so it still thinks it's at 0C0B5E

Since the game has a fixed number of items and each has a fixed length, and resolving either would require a fairly significant ASM hack (as you have now discovered), Flux has never bothered to look anywhere other than the default location.  Even if Flux did read from pointers, it would not be able to understand your Moon Language of variable length item strings.  :)

xD!  True.  So it's safe to bet, we're going to move these items to empty space and lengthen the items.  My question, what should we name them?

The longest name in the game I believe is "Prism Spectacles" - 16 in length.  This fits on the right side, but in the scrolling equipment, I believe 12 or 13 is the max.

Acessories
==============
Prism Specs = Prism Spectacles

Weapons
==============
Crono's Weapons
------------
Mop
Wood Sword = Wooden Sword
Iron Blade
SteelSaber = Steel Saber
Lode Sword
Bolt Sword
Red Katana
AlloyBlade = Alloy Blade
Star Sword
VedicBlade = ??? I think vedic is short for something, if not, Vedic Blade it is
Swallow
Kali Blade = Same as Vedic Blade...There must be a longer name
Slash 2 = Slasher 2
Shiva Edge = Possible longer name?
Rainbow = Rainbow Blade

Frog's Weapons
-----------------------
BronzeEdge = Bronze Edge
Iron Sword
Masamune
FlashBlade = Flash Blade (Possible longer name?)
Pearl Edge
Rune Blade
Demon Hit = Demonic Hit?
BraveSword = Brave Sword
Masamune

Marle's Weapons
------------------------
Bronze Bow
Iron Bow
Lode Bow
Robin Bow
Sage Bow
Dream Bow
SonicArrow = Sonic Arrow
Siren
Valkerye

Robo's Weapons
-----------------------------
Crisis Arm
Tin Arm
Hammer Arm
Stone Arm
DoomFinger = Doom Finger
Magma Hand
MegatonArm = Megaton Arm
Big Hand
Kaiser Arm
Giga Arm
Terra Arm

Lucca's Weapons
--------------------------
Air Gun
Dart Gun
Auto Gun
PicoMagnum = Pico Magnum (Possible longer name?)
Plasma Gun
Ruby Gun
Dream Gun
Graedus
Megablast
Shock Wave
WonderShot = Wonder Shot

Ayla's Weapons
--------------------------
Fist
Iron Fist
BronzeFist = Bronze Fist

Magus's Weapons
--------------------------
DarkScythe = Dark Scythe
Hurricane = Hurricane Scythe
StarScythe - Star Scythe
DoomSickle = Doom Sickle

There's other items and stuff, but this is just a simple extension of names.  If you have any new names or different variations, go ahead and say.

For the Indian stuff, those names are fine.

Anyway, there are Japanese to English changes that would come into play here. Flash would turn into Platinum, I think, and Dream would become Dreamstone (like Dreamstone Gun), etc. so it's almost impossible to avoid going just using the original Japanese names.

Woah, excellent job with the Japanese names! I was just about to say that this should go hand in hand with the Retranslation patch. Great job, love how this is coming along! :) (Even though I can't help, unfortunately...)

And is it possible to make this work for monster names? The Retranslation also had to shorten monster names... But that would doubtlessly be extremely hard, even moreso than this. :(

(And is Grandleon one word or two? o.O Did the Retranslation need to shorten it?)

It's two: Grand (great), Leon (lion).

Not bad.  If that's an o with a dash on it, then I'll have to make a symbol for that.  Easy enough.

Edit: I'll get to work on this tomorrow in 3rd hour.  This is part of my project in the class, so I'm pretty much working myself above an A ^_^.  I'll probably get the weapons done by end of 3rd hour, maybe more.  But I can't post it on here because the idiotic websense blocks this page for "Social Life"...so I'll have to e-mail it to myself and upload it once I get home.

God dammit I am having the hardest time with this.  Everytime near the end of the item name, it LOVES to add random symbols. - Prime 'effing example.

Don't know if you changed this, or if this will change anything, but I checked the VWF source again and noticed something.
Quote
; Fix for item count
         .byt $80, <VWF8_DISPLAY_EQ_COUNT ;bra next+n
         bra SkipItemCount2

dec:dec ;decrease max length by 2 more because of the numbers
Change 0CDAA7 to 0.

There has to be a change in "Dreamstone Bowgun".  It's 1 byte too long.

Edit: There's also a bug with the item list.  If you do this with Marle/Lucca, it works um...how to explain it.

Lucca
============
Air Gun
Peashooter
Auto Gun
Pico Magnum
etc..

If you scroll to the very top, then bottom, Pico Magnum will change to the last item that was on top of bottom.  It's still the same item, but the name flops.

Well, drop the m in Dreamstone, since it was never meant to be there, even if it's typical for japanese to shorten some thing (not sure if this is the case, tho). The material is called Dreastone after all. :p

True...I thought of the alternative idea of combining 2 letters in 1/2 bytes so it appears like 1 :O.  Or I was hoping to find the limit of letters to extend it to 19 instead of 18.
