Arena feature and Japan release date revealed
« on: September 21, 2008, 12:45:57 pm »
Link here.

The arena makes use of some sort of method to capture monsters. Seems this is also the game's wi-fi battle feature.

Japan gets CTDS November 27th.

Read the comments there. xD Haha they say the Grand Slam's a Pokemon rip-off. Although it is kinda fun.

Seems... weird. I hope the rare Items are ones that were already in game, as I don't see myself playing through this.

I don't understand what this person is saying...Why not have new items...? I think I used to be like that before, but if I wanted the same thing all over again, I'd go back to play the original, y'know? New release, new features, makes sense to me. Maybe it'll make even better use of the New Game+!

Chrono Trigger DS Extras Unveiled

For most, no extras are needed to justify the purchase of Chrono Trigger DS. No updated graphics, no new FMVs, nothing. It's pretty much the most widely respected game in the genre.

But for those wondering what those extra features exactly were, today is your day. The first big news is that of a somewhat meaty Monster Battling minigame.

Players will control, breed and battle up to 50 different species in an arena where some nifty rare items can be obtained, either on their own our against others via Nintendo Wi-Fi. Your monsters will even change their look as they get stronger.

Second, the addition of two brand new dungeons for the player to explore:

-------------------------------------------------

Dimensional Distortion
A mysterious dungeon suddenly appears. Travel through time to overcome the challenges, and reach the depths to claim a hidden power. Clearing the different parts of the dungeon will affect the End of Time in some way.

Dragon's Sanctuary
In the last leg of the story, new gates to prehistoric times and the middle ages suddenly appear. Within the dungeon, one will have to complete various requests to continue. The quests gradually increase in difficulty, and you may have to go to a different era in order to continue. Help the Reptites to reach the innermost parts of the dungeon. What could be waiting there...?

-------------------------------------------------

Looks like we're never going to get the chance to explore that paradise of fire and water, the long lost, oft fabled Singing Mountain~

Sounds good to me! I hope we get some new music for these areas & extras as well...

Sounds like that could be it...but how complete was Singing Mountain, anyways...? I forget...I should look it up, really...At the very least they should use the SM theme in it somewhere...

I'm looking forward to these new dungeons.  The thought of having to go to different era's to complete tasks isn't exactly new, but definitely interesting to me.

Look like square-enix was on to Toys'r'us in japan, because all the info that was found on that site was removed.

Maybe we'll get to see the dragon god before he was absorved by Lavos/Time Devoyer, after all, is never realy stated when the dragon god was created. Could be during the time of the repitites, and was destroyed with them in the lavos timeline.

But is it official? Seems like none of the information come from official sources. At least, I couldn't find any official ones. Would someone, please, answer me? =)

Well, the info on that Toys R Us site was taken down...I think we can assume that's because SE hasn't released that info yet themselves...? I'm not sure exactly where SI got their info, but I have no reason not to believe their information as they've never done me wrong in the past...

Huh... the extra dungeons remind me of Soul of Chaos, more than anything else.  Y'know, that sort of hodgepodge of minigames within a dungeon.

Of course, I say that because Soul of Chaos was the only one I've delved deeply into, before I got bored enough with FFI to move on.  I'm currently dealing with the Sealed Temple of FFV Advance, which is shaping up to be the same sort of thing (capture a Behemoth...?  What the hell?!)

Looks like the sort of thing Square does with reissues, these days.

I must admit I didn't see the monster arena coming... then again, it's not really a surprise, either.
