Best idea for a Chrono spin-off game?
« on: August 05, 2008, 07:45:39 pm »
So which of these games do you think would be the best spin-off game for the Chrono series?  A law-themed text adventure in Pierre: Ace Attorney!; a high-speed action platformer in Lightspeed the Lavos; a rea-time strategy with all the beasts from the chronoverse in ChronoCraft; or the Puzzle/FPS (Time) Portal?  Or perhaps, you can think of a better one?  Please share!

While you got it half-right w/Square & Capcom...I want a Square-Enix vs Capcom fighting game. Then we'll get to see Team Ryu (Street Fighter & Breath of Fire) vs Team Spiky Hairdos (Crono & Cloud)~!!

If not, then an in-company crossover with Chrono & Star Ocean. They both kinda sound like they're headed in similar directions, I suppose...

That's what I'd go for.

As much as I would love to see a Valve-created Chrono "spin-off", the transition into FPS would be near-impossible to pull off.  That would be my first choice, but I instead chose the Blizzard option, simply because the ability to craft a campaign-based strategy and/or Chronoverse MMORPG seems potentially viable.

What about a Square & Maxis joint effort? Sim Time seems like a fun game.

"I am GOD OF TIME!" Begins screw with the time stream. Soon all time periods become one! Chaos and Madness ensue and reality crumbles! "Hehehehehehehe! All bow to the GOD OF TIME!...and basicly taht's how I play Sim Games...as if I'm a malvolent god whos only desire is to see my subjects suffer under cruel tyranny! Arn't I sweet!"

Make a spin-off where you guide Lavos Spawn to new worlds! You can also help decide what DNA aspects are best for you little Lavos Spawns! Awwwwww! Screw Nintendogs! Nintendvoids: Raise your own Lavos!

Pierre: Ace Attorney! would be awesome.

"OBJECTION!

He found her kitty, see? See!? He has good character! He's innocent! Even though the kitty has nothing to do with this case, he's INNOCENT I say!"

(Harvest Moon)

Well, probably "Chrono Moon" or "Harvest Trigger" or something like that. But I could definitely see potential. Experience life on the farm as you grow crops and manage your livestock. Collect milk from cows, time eggs from Chickens, and Frozen Flames from Lavoids. And, of course, getting married to one of ten available bachelorettes (and 5 bachelors, using the special friend system). Also includes Epoch racing and mining for fish.

Chrono Trigger/Cross in the same vain of Black Isle Studio Games, e.g. Fallout, Torment

A Chronout/Falloss would probably work as Fallout was post-apocolyptic...so it would have to be set in the ruined 2300ad future of Chrono.

Tormented Chrono would be probably best fit in a dirty 600ad era or post-2300ad, when humanity starts up again.

I would pay for a Chrono game in that style, for sure.

Magus & maybe Lucca in a new Devil May Cry...I only include Lucca really because she uses a gun...

How about CT characters in one of them DBZ fighting games? I know it'd fuel the lame "OMG! Crono is Goku!" crapola, but that's gonna happen anyways, might as well have 'em look cool in a neat new genre game while it happens...
