A note on Miguel...
« on: July 25, 2008, 06:34:23 am »
I just had a thought about Miguel.

There are people who say he can't be Crono because, oh lord, Crono uses a Katana!

Where.. is Miguel going to get a katana in ten years in a frozen world? With metal robots running around everywhere? I'm sure those are hell on a katana, too.

I like to think of it in the Magus way. Guile was meant to be Magus/Magil in the original version, but they said he was a different character at the last second because they don't want to delve into all that, probably without changing any of the lines or anything of significance.

Maybe the same could be said of Miguel and Crono. There's enough hints there to suggest he might have been planned as Crono at first, but because they're dickish to us and don't want to explain ANYTHING about what happened in the 20 year gap, that idea was scrapped without the outlines erased.

Miguel was Leena's dad.  So what happened to Marle?

She died cold and alone with her last thoughts being "Is this what we fought for?"

And so Crono moved on, cold and alone, to El Nido?

It'd explain Miguel being pretty cold.

Well, he had a baby with him. Then he got suckered into wacky hijinks with another dad, one panther obsessed Wazuki F. Joneston.

20 Years After the Events of Chrono Trigger...! Crono's uses none of his original Techs, doesn't mention who he is or any of that, has a kid w/someone else (4 years after the events of Chrono Trigger), talks waaaaaaaay too much, etc...The only thing I see people saying that there IS a connection is that they physically look similar and that they SUPPOSE Crono would be White innate (even though Lightning Elements in Cross are Yellow innate)...This is as stupid as Serge being Crono's granddad, if you ask me...It has as much credibility as the Sage of Marbule being Crono.

Guile originally intended to be Magus is largely supported by the fact that THEY'VE SAID THIS PUBLICLY~!!! *shock*

His speech could actually help his argument. He talks about what Lucca talks about... "A future we don't make is a future eliminated..."

Could it be that Lucca and Crono talked this over before they spit up?

Possibly, but I guess that explains why Crono is normally so quiet if every conversation he has ends in barfing.

...Then again, he could just be another exposition monster. Characters who look like normal people, and perhaps are designed to be certain people, but they talk in a completely different manner and only in plot backgrounds.

There are maybe a few similarities between the two, but there is not nearly enough to come to that conclusion and it be correct.  And they look nothing alike.  Different hair color/style, he talks, he's wearing glasses, and he just doesn't look the same.  And is it me, or is it kind of weird to have a guy with a version of himself from like 20 years ago right next to him.  I get the feeling they would have said so if he was Crono.
