Were the "Ghost Children" ever specifically referred to as ghosts of the dead former cast? He said something like they were "echoes" from another time. That makes it even more vague.

At the very least they're just images. Lucca notes that "they no longer exist in this timeline". Perhaps they're still alive somewhere in a different time and dimension; we'll never know.

If we assume they're different in the Dead Sea AND Opassa Beach it only makes everything more complicated. Their appearance alone is a mystery. Why do they appear? How do they appear? Where do they appear from? Why do they appear as childs?

The way I see it, the Ghost Children in the Dead Sea were made to show how destroyed the future is and that even the Trigger heroes couldn't survive the damned future. On Opassa Beach however they were just made for game mechanical reasons, that is to explain the entire plot to those who still didn't understand what was going on.

Directly saying? Nope. But the discussion switched from the Ghost Children who were in the Dead Sea to the Ghost Children on Opassa Beach (as that is where Lucca says that they don't exist in that timeline anymore).

Unless I'm mistaken, and it's been awhile:

Crono is left-handed.
Miguel is right-handed.

Even if Crono went incognito to El Nido, there's no reason for him to change his dominant hand, especially since he never pulled the "There's something I haven't told you: I'm not right-handed, either!" gambit during his battle against Serge.

Besides, the people of El Nido are sometimes quite xenophobic.  If Miguel and Leena were foreigners, somebody would've said so.

Question.  Crono was the king of Guardia.  Why would he all of a sudden pack up and move to El Nido leaving everything behind?

Because Guardia got their buttocks handed to them by Porre, Marle was most likely killed, and there was nothing left for him.

Heck, we could say that Crono is really Connor MacLeod, because they are both powerful warriors and both use a katana (and both have seen events separated by hundreds of years), if that is all it takes to have a valid theory.

The only thing this thread has managed to accomplish is suggest a plausible reason for Crono's disappearance other than death. I like the idea of Crono having a child and hiding away. It would make sense if there were anything like evidence for it. It at least provides an interesting plot idea if they ever do decide to bring Crono back into the series (ahem, revive the SERIES) without having some lame thing like "Oh he's dead."

And seriously? Magic just stopping? Not working anymore? Where is ANY evidence for that at all?

I don't think he should come back, even as an NPC.
If he's dead, then hint at or tell how he died.  If not, make his story an easter egg.

Seriously, if they brought him back after basically dropping a bridge on him (without being explicit) the whole thing will just reek with fan wank.


If they show his death though, it better be a crowning moment of awesome.
