Most satisfying moment in a video game.
« on: July 17, 2008, 12:50:05 am »
Have you ever played a game that at one moment made you pump your fists in the air in pride? That gave you a strong sense of accomplishment, and just overall made you feel totally badass?

Here's a few for me:

Completing the original Super Mario Bros. for the first time.

Getting four lines to dissapear at once in Tetris.

Defeating Sephiroth in Kingdom Hearts 2.

Finishing Ninja Gaiden (Fuck yeah!)

And many, many others...

What about you?

Completing my first city scenario in Sim City. The original.

Beating some of the harder event matches in SSB:M

Beating the hard path on StarFox 64.

Defeating Salazar on RE:4 with the Broken Butterfly.

Landing my last possible physical attack before death in FFIV to deal the killing blow to Zeromus. I was down to Cecil with 500 HP and Zeromus' Black Hole turn was coming up. I made one last ditch physical attack, and lightning bolts and melting Zeromus started.

And finally, doing the same exact thing with Crono to Magus. With 15 HP left I dealt the killing blow.

For the fist pump straight in the air accompanied by a YES! or FUCKIN RIGHT etc, for me is similar to Lakon there.  Any boss battle where there is but one party member left, who is in the yellow, and deals the killing blow.

For the lesser, yes! moments, where no fist pump is needed, or you make a fist and pull in towards your body; same thing except for any normal battle.  I remember a lot of those moments from Final Fantasy I and the monsters that could "kill" your party members by petrifying them.  Zombies, I think..or some other undead creature.  Oh ... cocktrices, those were the bitches.

So now is the time for Translanka to come in and complain about how this thread is similar to some other thread.

Concurred

1)Defeating 'Super-Bosses'.(Indalecio-limiter off-SO:TSS, Ozma-full power-FFIX, Shinryuu-FFV, etc.)
2)Finishing low level runs.
3)Being taken off guard every now and then.
Priceless)Actually getting good at a game you've always sucked at.

Super Mario Galaxy, the whole thing, minus the swimming and surfing stages.

Beating Goht in Majora's Mask, or anything else requiring Goron rolling. Also, helping the various characters of the game and making them happy by the game's end is immensely satisfying.

Finishing Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. Hell, defeating Miguel is probably on every Cross player's list.

Kvar's death in Tales of Symphonia is very satisfying. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVGS8fvIJxc
"As you burn in hell!"

Also, just about all of Crisis Core is satisfying.

NOTHING works right on him. No matter what the field effect is, he can still deal over 200 damage in one turn to a BLUE or RED character. I fought him using Lynx and Grobyc because of all the black innate monsters in the Dead Sea. I was dead in 4 turns.

I soloed him with Lynx─use items(i.e. the disposable elements)!

Playing Phantasy Star Universe(PS2) for the first time; scoring mostly S ranks and nothing less than A. This game is deceiving in its difficulty(e.g. Fighting this huge bore-like beast, timed 0:58 sec., two seconds short of losing the S rank, on the fourth try─man, that was hard. :o), but I'd recommend it just for that facet not so much, the game's getting pretty easy now...
