ROMS and a General problem... uggh.
« on: July 05, 2008, 02:48:57 am »
Ok, so I have windows Vista... I have my own name my bro has his.

I want to be able to play Crimson Echoes ok? MY brother won't let me have an emulator... he blames ti for our first computer crashing... yeah right we had viruses galore

I want ZS... you know...

I want to know if it will damage the computer in any way shape or forum.

I also want to know if there is any way i can keep the program where my brother will have no idea that it is there?

Anyone know? He has no access to my account because i got a password. There may be some way to check on my things but idk so, any help would be appreciated.

Why doesn't your brother just scan the emulator with anti-virus software?

Or if he's really that paranoid, have him install Virtual PC on Vista (you can download it free from Microsoft's website), then install DOS on Virtual PC and run the DOS version of ZSNES. That way, it can't do anything to your computer because it'll be sandboxed inside of the virtual machine.

He is ultra protective of this new computer... I can scan the bastard myself, I just need a way to keep him from knowing that it's on here...

1 more year and he marries his girlfriend... then hes outta here. Not saying i don't like him, but I will have more freedom.

There's not much you can do. It's his property.

I'd just keep the emulator on a USB keydrive.

oooo thats not a bad idea... do that with the rom to.

Hmm looks like i need to buy and hide a usb drive lol.

Not my brother's property though. It's family/dad's lol.

I hate when people get arrogant. He has backed up EVERY Thing on this computer so how can an Emulator hurt now?

Simply rename the Emulator file and give it a different graphic, and put it in a folder he won't check, like "School papers" or something. Hide all of your ROMS in that folder, and even lock it with a password while your at it. It's dishonest, but it's the easiest way.

Why doesn't he partition the hard drive?  Put all important stuff on one and stuff that just gets installed on the main "C" drive?  Thats what I do.  In fact I just got a virus this past Saturday and decided to reformat the partition to get rid of it, rather than hope I can clean it manually.  Wiped out all programs, sure, but they can be reinstalled.  Had all documents and other important matters, like music on different partitions.  Case solved.

I downloaded the ZSNES once already and put it in a folder on my thing that was called... Trav's folder... anyway he never knew it was there.

I am wondering if I can pull off the same shit.

Still the usb drive seems so much better.

Thanks for all the help guys.
