SATA Hard Drive Help
« on: May 18, 2008, 12:23:50 pm »
Ok, I'm fairly new to SATA drives, I know there are some forums to help with this, but all the information is scattered everywhere.

The problem is, that my friend said the hard drive was fried, but it turns out it wasn't, since my motherboard detects it, well through the SATA device boot thing, but my Windows disk doesn't detect it. And by the way, I'm trying to install it on a new motherboard.

I would appreciate it if anybody could help.

What version of Windows are you installing? Not all of them have SATA drivers on the disk.

Windows XP Pro SP2. Well, last time I tried it, it was just XP Home, a sort of old version, so that's probably why it didn't detect it.

UPDATE: Nevermind, I got it figured out, now all I need to do is get some new RAM, because the one I bought doesn't work.
