Tech TP Needed FAQ
« on: December 28, 2004, 01:35:18 pm »
Hey people, I've just made a FAQ for CT that tells how many tech points does a character need to get a tech, and am going to post it on gamefaqs... What do you think?

Good luck getting it on. For sure, it can become a feature of each character entry in the Encyclopedia as far as the Compendium goes.

Oh...=) I'll edit the pages then right away=)

EDIT: Gamefaqs rejected it... It says it has lack of content and 'oversaturation'(what is that?)... Do they realize nobody ever made a FAQ with this info? It might not be something very important, but it's still unique to this FAQ...

It's been done.  It's in Phoenix 1911's FAQ.

Oh, sorry I didn't find it in my search... And it is quite good, with some minor innacuracies, like some of Lucca's tech. I'll show here how I got the tech points that were needed though:

This is from what I had written:

When a character learns a new tech, the next one to be learned
will also gain the same amount of tech points given by last enemies that you
needed to defeat to learn that tech, plus any tech points left from the last
tech learned. Maybe this formula will explain better:
TechTP = RemainingTechTP + (TPMonster x2 - PreviousTP)
RemainingTechTP: How much you need to learn this new tech, after getting the
enough TP for the previous tech.
TPMonster = TPs given by last monster group need to get previous tech.
PreviousTP = TP needed to get the previous tech just before you entered
the last monster battle necessary to learn it.
So, for example: Robo is almost learning Area Bomb, he just needs to
get 15 more TP. The party encounters a monster group, defeats it, and get 24 TP
for the victory. He learns Area Bomb, and when you look at how much you need to
get Shock it says 967 TP. So: TechTP = 967+(24x2-15)=967+33=1000
Had the party encountered another monster group, which would give 36 TP, if
you took a look at how much you needed for him to get Shock you would see he
needed 943 TP. So: TechTP = 943+(36x2-15)=943+57=1000

I just hope it isn't too messy to understand...

He got all of his values by actually hacking the rom.  But he's prone to make a lot of typos and general errors even though his information should technically be 100% accurate.

I tell him to fix some of the crap but he ignores me everytime.  That punk X_X

I think it was on Game FAQS, but I saw one where it just listed all the character stats for each character for every level.  It was the single most tedious thing in the world!  It really didn't help at all...

Yeah, that was mine.  I'm glad you liked it.

I find it to be a handy reference when plugging in random damage formula when I need to.

ARe you kidding me?  Hey, I'llbe honest with you.  I did find it useful when I was trying to decide how many of each tab I needed.  How did you figure out the stats for people at Level 1?  Did you have to hack the game?

Indeed, Indeed.

Chrono Trigger is strange in the sense that there isn't a formula for stat gain.  It's all predetermined and present within the rom data.  All you gotta do is retrieve it.

Oh, that faq... I like it... Even saved it on my HD, since I'm needing it for the CT game I'm making on RMXP. I'm using the exp needed for the characters as well, since I'm using the same monsters(and they give the same exp) and also for Ayla's stats since she's gonna be a boss. Now, if there was something like that for Chrono Cross too, it would be great, but of course then it'd be per growth level...

It wouldn't be too effective regardless.  Chrono Cross stat gain, unlike Chrono Trigger, uses a fairly liberal formula for each growth star.  It would be different every time.

Although I did play through the game 6 times without random battles to record the stat growth each time and recorded the averages for 24 stars and 48 stars.  Using those averages, the caps at 99 stars, and their starting stats at 0 stars, you can come up with a theoretical stat build for other stars...

Hmm... but do you have any information regarding their starting stats and caps? That's actually what is more important to me... Even more than the growth itself...

hey, i have a question.  Does maxing out your experience in CT actually do anything?  I'm asking cuz when you reach level 99, your experience is still far from maxed out.  i wanna know if its worth it to max out the experience.
