Crono vs. Frog

Crono isn't just some random kid that showed up though.  He was predestined to save the world, predisposed with natural fighting talent to build upon during his adventure, and bravery to face whatever challenges might come his way.

Frog might as well be a knight, but he technically isn't.  He is the legendary hero of 600AD, also had some natural talent which he had already honed by the time of the adventure, but he doesn't seem as brave.  Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that he's a sissy.  He admitted himself that he wouldn't be good as a knight because he didn't know if, when the time came, he would do well on the battlefield.

I guess when you compare the two, it all depends on the time during the adventure that they face off.  If they bash heads near the beginning of the game, Frog would probably win due to his higher experience with the blade.  By the time they face Magus, it would probably be a draw or a very close match.  Crono would've honed his skills by facing all of the monsters during his quest while Frog would've just had gotten himself back up after sulking for awhile.  They would therefore be pretty evenly matched.  However, if they faced off at the end of the game, Crono would most likely win.  You have to agree that he had to have gained some mad skill to be able to defeat Lavos.  I know that the others helped and that he couldn't have done it without them, but Crono is given the credit probably due to the fact that he had become a great swordsman.  Crono would be the hero who saved all of time whereas Frog only saved one time period.  It would be a close battle, but Crono would win during an encounter at the end of the game.

Frog would win. If you look carefully at his intro, you can see Mr T and Chuch Norris, both of whom trained frog hard in the Sacred Art of Pungent Foot and Underwater Basket Weaving Fist. Then he ate them. Therefore Frog has a great deal of power. That, and the fact that Crono is some random kid of the kind that has not been destined to save the world who starts off with a Wooden Sword, Frog looks like a winner. Though I will vote for neither.

I vote for neither, and instead bring up points on how close of a fight it would be.

Pros - Chrono:

 - The Rainbow is a blade made from a strong alloy (assuming here) that could conceivably cut through anything.

 - A Katana fighting style suggests speed (which Chrono has) and powerful, quick blows (which Chrono also has).

 - Chrono is self-taught, and thus conformed the Iaijutsu fighting style to himself and not himself to it, thus giving himself some extra, possibly unknown fighting tactics.

Pros - Frog/Glenn:

 - He's had formal training from Cyrus. Thus, he uses an actual fighting style... probably.

 - He wields the Masamune, a broadsword of amazing power. It is KNOWN that it can cut through anything.

 - He's not as quick, but Frog's balance of higher offense and defense would come in handy. Speed is kind of useless when your opponent can turn away all your attacks with a simple parry or feint.

 - His small size suggests a smaller target.

----

In theory, the fight would be amazing. Chrono would mix amazing speed with unrivaled offense, while Frog would have a powerful offense with an intelligent defense.

I am under the oppinion that we should get Square to release the exact makeup of the materials so we can put them through some computer tests and determine how well they would fare in a fight involving them hitting eachother. ^^  I am quite sure they would be happy to do this, hehe.

Crono's katana CAN cut through metal... Dragon Tank, Gaurdian, the Synchrites... They're all made of metal.

I'm of the opinion that Crono would win... Even if we assume that they (Somehow) never learn magic, Crono has cyclone and Slash. Frog has Slurp and Slurp Cut.

So, if they do fight, Crono has two options: Crono stays away and uses Slash, or Crono sticks up close and uses Cyclone.

If Crono sticks away and uses Slash, Frog can't get close, and Slurp Cut is out of the question. If Frog tried it, Crono could easily cut off Frog's tongue, and that would end it right there.

If Crono sticks up close, then Frog would have to be able to strike through the Cyclone attack. You can see that he strike's too slowly to really fight something moving that fast; He may carry his blade with one hand, but he uses two hands to strike with it.

Therefore, I'm certain that Crono has the edge in this fight.

Realistically... no.  Cyclone is a technique that can only be used if your enemy cannot run away.  Well thats great against a frog.  Seeing as frogs can jump very high distances.  And uhm slash... well slash isnt great either seeing as hey look I can jump out of the way.
You are forgetting the most importatn Crono tech tho... Confuse.  Yes the wonderful tech which I used so many times....  But in concept it would be futile against an opponent that is constantly hopping around.  If he managed to land it though it would be Frog owned 4 times over.  But if he failed... well then that was a wonderful waste of energy.
And don't be too sure Frogs slurp attacks would not work... frogs have very fast tongues and should he land it on the proper spot to disable Crono, well then he is screwed.

Frogs in general may (or may not, I don't know) have very fast tongues, but look at Frog's Slurp Cut attack; his isn't moving very fast on it's way to the enemy, leaving Crono plenty of time to either dodge, or hack it off.

Plus, Crono can't use confuse if he never learned magic; it's just the two pre-lightning techs, Cyclone and Slash.

And if Frog's only advantage is that he can jump out of the way, he doesn't seem to have any way to attack Crono.

Wait when you say no magic... do you mean they do not decide to use magic or they have not learned magic... (because that would also contradict with the swords).
Furthermore I said realistically.  Probably in the gameplay the tongue was slowed down so we can see it... you know RPG tension to see if your attack was useful or did you just waste MP (then if you have an emulator you press f4 and find a better attack... >.> <.< >.> acutally I didn't do that too often).

Hmm, that could be confusing. Lets just say to keep this nice and clean (yet still within the rhelms of confusing, 'cause y'know... thats my bread and butter). They're within some kind of anti-magic zone. Now, when I say no magic, I'm talking about all that crazy stuff the party learns after they chat it up with Spikko. I don't consider moves such as "slash" and such to be moves based on magic, just skill. Don't you dare start an arguement over what defines magic you guys or I swear I'll turn this car RIGHT AROUND!
