Nightmare, do you want to post at VGMix and OCReMix? You can just use this writeup:

Chrono Trigger: Prophet's Guile is a new ROM hack following Magus's turbulent experience in Zeal as he dons the guise of the Prophet, curries favor with the Queen, and prepares for his second attempt at exacting revenge on Lavos. It's full of graphical, level, sound, and design polishes and surprises, reflecting the cutting edge in Trigger hacking. About two or three regular Trigger chapters long, it's the first Chrono Trigger hack with a new story.

Unofficial Chrono Trigger 2 board:
http://mp3guy.proboards2.com/index.cgi?board=ChronoTrigger&action=display&thread=1200107049

I think -- I think I heard a cricket chirp in response! But seriously, there's been a little bit of activity there in recent months, so I thought it was worthwhile.

Thanks; I need to add that board to the Community Map.

Tomorrow, I'll PM Nightcrawler just to check on the RH.net progress.

Now the Chrono Trigger Novel Project folks have heard of the blessed tidings:
http://p099.ezboard.com/fchronotriggernovelproject29201frm15.showMessage?topicID=73.topic

Say -- it says on the CTNP front page that the author will submit demo chapters to Square!? The response will be interesting, and telling. Sort of a testing of the waters as far as Square's leniency toward fan projects after the latest C&D a couple years back.

I suppose I'd expect a flat rejection regarding publication fomented by Masato Kato's lawyers (or Square's -- who has the rights again?), but I don't think they'll get a C&D, since no action has been taken on unpublished fanfiction projects to my knowledge. Time will tell.

Hah, I should show up at that group one day.

Yeah, a tileset introduction thread would be phenomenal. It'd really blow the lid off new, exciting worlds.

I wonder if I should start some kind of plot thread about my Radical Dreamers idea, just for the hell of it.

that'd be great

Someone posted about the hack on GamesRadar, an Italian forum:
http://forum.gamesradar.it/showthread.php?t=607288

You have to register to see the thread, but here's the notable parts of what they say (I don't speak Italian, I used translators and my knowledge of...er, Spanish):

*The topic creator is aware of Crimson Echoes.
*One poster thinks the NPC texts were very well-written, whereas Magus' style felt impersonal and not very "well kept". However, note that this poster didn't play the original Chrono Trigger.
*One poster felt that the game stops abruptly; s/he expected it to last until Lavos' awakening. Another poster also thought there could have been a bit more at the end.
*Apart from these minor details, they and the other posters enjoyed playing the game, except one person who said s/he doesn't like fangames and apparently didn't bother checking it.

Guys, Nightcrawler at Romhacking.net would like us to replace the archive the Compendium gave him with one containing only the patch and the readme (sans SPC tracks and image). Chrono'99, can you take care of this?:

Please edit this entry with the new file as soon as you can and let me know when you have.

--Nightcrawler

EDIT: Here's a zip with a modified readme to reflect the absence of the soundtrack. I'm a doof and don't know how to upload at romhacking.net, so someone wanna do the honors? I can inform Nightcrawler, or you can. Whoever does, let everyone know here so that we're all on the same page.

UPDATE: This has been handled by Zeality. No worries.

For once there is a complete fangame everybody leaves tape? : Question:

Hah, I wonder what that meant. If I'm thinking correctly, he's surprised there's so little feedback (just as we are) for something actually completed for once. That AGTP translation update is getting more replies on ROMHacking.net than our hack, for Christ's sake.

"For once there's a fangame that's completed, yet no one gives a damn?"

The other poster says that generally the more threads there are in the forum, the less replies there are to each thread. He never played a game of the Chrono series but says he appreciates the effort and might try the hack sometime.
