i dislike GML type games. RPG maker, and the such. theres no honer in making a game if your not doing all the work, than its just like THEY made the game and you just skinned it. like customizing your myspace and calling it your website.

no offense to you, B, just throwing that in here as well as a suggestion that you try programming your own stuff if your interested in making games.

RPG Maker and stuff are only tools. They don't inherently suck or blow. If they're used correctly, with imagination and skills, the games can be awesome. Chrono Crisis proves it. On the other hand, you could program your own stuff all you want but if you don't have imagination and skill it will suck whether it was from scratch or not.

HAHAHA!  No honor in making a game when your not doing all the work?  Then what the hell is Chrono Crisis doing bud.  They're coding everything themselves in RMXP, characters, graphics, sounds, music etc...  I'd advise you to learn more about certain programs before dissing them.

That's like saying Crimson Echoes is doing no work at all because they're working in TF..

Also even Xenogears didn't create much on the story domain. It simply ripped off everything that has ever been written from the Bible to George Orwell and "skinned" it into something different. Yet the result was awesome.

I don't really care about that. If it upsets you, I'm sure there are plenty of other games out there, but at the same time, using that as a reason not to play it is rather trivial.

No source code, nor will there ever be. Me and Myself will do this thank you, nobody else.

Wow, what a douchey statement. Professional doesn't mean shit. You can have a program used by professionals and still make shit.

It's all about talent. You need to have talent to make a masterpiece.

Captain B, great work. I can't wait to see the finished product. :D

no, nightmare. it isn't a douchebag statement. He's just worried I'm sticking with GML all my life, which would indeed be a horrible fate.

This is more of a "what if" than anything. Ever play Zeldarius? look it up. pretty fun (and funny) Zelda 1 shmup.

I wouldn't exactly say that.  Sora does have a reputation of putting negatives and putting people down without the actual meaning going on >_>..

Not this time though. Blunt maybe, but he has a point. Still, this project should be taken with a bit of humor. A shmup retelling of the game.

So should I host the beta version yet on Chronofan, or wait until a new release?

 Host this one, ZeaLitY.

Chrono Beat demo 3

It's still only one stage (middle ages). That will probably be the first thing to change after this. I've gotta start working on the present, and some foes for the present. Mostly just different sprited, watered down versions of the middle ages. Bats replaced by Octopods, roly and green imp replaced with blue falcons that dive at you.

In this demo:

Takeoff Intro from End of Time
All Powerups!
1up powerup (Schala)
new weapons:
Robo (incomplete. tends not to home in on enemies, but will home in on the boss)
Ayla

...

...

Magus! (also my personal favorite weapon. Yours too I'm sure, once you see it)

New enemies:
Naga-ette (fires three shots in three directions)
Ogan (Strikes the ground producing a burst of shots)

Boss: Retinite. fires shots from his head, and a laser from his torso eye. Shoot the eye. HP: 5000

fixed it!

this game is still awesome.
i lol'd at the mario sound effect i just heard on it.
magus is awesome, though you should make his bomb bigger or make it a 3 shot like the nagas (though this is personal advice from someone who wants shmup weapons.

also, i cant get to the boss, but i can beat up to level 4 on Ikaruga, so this game is really hard.
