The former is an adventure game. There's no real basis to call it an RPG. Quest for Glory is iffy, it's kinda in between the two genres.

I figured as much...just thought that since the definition was so loose they should be considered.

Kings quest would count in my opinion, if it doesn't then Monkey Island and Sam and max don't count on my list.

Sorry V_Translanka, I did mean BoF2.

Yeah, I wasn't too sure about Monkey Island and Sam & Max myself...but I'm only basing that on what I've heard as I haven't played either, much less King's Quest or Quest for Glory, both of which I've never heard of at all...Okay then Kebrel, I'll go add your rating for the GBA port (more or less) of BoF2...

EDIT: Also, damn, I'd better track which games I voted for so I don't double vote for the same game...

Mother, Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest IV, Chrono Trigger, FFVI, Live-a-Live, Chrono Cross, FFT, Vagrant Story, Dragon Quest VIII, FFX, FFX-2...That's all I voted for, right? Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's all I did...

Well, I guess I'll add some more of my own then...

No way are LucasArt adventure games RPG's.

And when have Ultima and Might & Magic been "lesser known"?

Jesus, V, when have Illusion of Gaia and Terranigma been worth ONLY 7! Those were probably the best SNES games ever!

(By the way, a lot of the games still say 1 vote)

UPDATE:

DS:
Pokemon Diamond/Pearl: 8.0

GBA:
Pokemon Red/Blue: 9.0

SNES:
Shining Force II: 7.5
Breath of Fire II: 8.8

Ja, after consulting my crowd Monkey island/Sam and Max should be off the list. And Shining Force I & II was Genesis only.

GBA:
Pokemon Red/Blue: 8.0
Pokemon Yellow 9.0

Red and blue were both great RPGs, but I think yellow is the only Pokemon game to date that was able to top them. It took the same mechanics, graphics, story, and added in a cute lovable Pikachu, and added in color information for use with the GBC. And even better is playing them on Pokemon stadium. The funny thing is that even though red and blue don't have any color information of their own, the 64 has it for them(if I remember right).

PC:
Planescape: Torment  8/10

Good game, but it takes itself to seriously in its attempt to take itself humorously. If that makes any sense... The writing is funny, but can get extremely annoying if you are trying to figure out what to do.

Well, looks like my work's cut out for me...I realized that having destroyed my first votes, if I want to keep the tallies past the hundredths mark, I'm going to have to re-vote for those I originally did...So, here we go...again...and I also forgot to add "E.V.O. The Search for Eden"...which is basically what Terranigma was to me. As for Illusion of Gaia, it's good, but I just am not as into action/adventure RPGs...I didn't dig too much on Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu II either...

Alright! I mathed these out, so they're all accurate, except maybe FFX, but I'm fairly sure I gave it a 1/4 point more than X-2...

Mother - 8
DQ - 6.85
DQIV - 7.85
Chrono Trigger - 9.75
FFVI - 9.75
Live-a-Live - 8.5
Chrono Cross - 7.55
Vagrant Story - 8.85
FFT - 9.75
DQVIII - 8.75
FFX - 6.5
FFX-2 - 6.25

AND...EVO..

E.V.O. The Search For Eden (SNES/SF) - 5.75

I'll try to update now (I'll EDIT this post when done)...but I make no promises! Damn this math-thingie...

EDIT: Alright, I've UPDATED up to Pyt Fumv & Theicedragon's NES & SNES eras...I don't have any time to do the rest...Also, I'll have it known that Pokemon Red & Blue were GAMEBOY games, not GBA. If you're thinking of Fire Red & Leaf Green, you'd better say so.

Oh, sorry I put Shining Force in SNES. I forgot I even had a Genesis emulator :P Speaking of which:

Megadrive:
Phantasy Star 2: 8.6

By the way V, it's odd how you rate a game 5.75 and put it in your all time favs :?

It's not a Fav RPGs of All Time...Just the "Top". If I don't include the lame RPGs, what are the awesome RPGs going to be on top OF?

EDIT: Oh, and the lowest I rated a game was The Granstream Saga at 5. They had no faces!!!

Anyways, I'm about to update the list with those I missed last time and BZ's add of Phantasy Star 2 (I personally don't remember enough of 2 & 3 to list...wish I had MY Genesis emulator...).

EDIT 2: Hey, theicedragon, you have Persona II listed as PS2...it's PSX, isn't it? Or did you mean one of the other sequals?? I must admit, I'm not up to date on my Persona/Shin Megami Tensei/Digital Devil Saga stuff.

EDIT 3: Alright! The list is UPDATED as of this post right here!!!

EDIT 4: Also, I don't know if anyone noticed, but I'm feeling awful uncomfortable including so many of the Zelda games...I personally am ok with LttP & the GB games, but the first two? Really? RPGs? I dunno...I'm still including them because I said it's loose...but I'm on the fence here.

you are right, V. I have them mixed up. Persona 2 is for PSX and is rated 8. Person 3 should be the PS2 version and I rate that one a 9. Sorry for the mix up. And I understand how you feel about the Zelda games but they are rpgs. Maybe Zelda 2 shouldn't be there but Zelda I for NES definitely should be included.
