Questions about Reptites and Zeal!!
« on: October 19, 2004, 10:53:20 pm »
Ok......so I decided to go through Chrono Trigger again because I'm in the process of writing a fan-fic and wanted as much information answered as possible (and if it has no answer than I want to make my own answer for it in my fan-fic). Anyway, I found many unanswered questions revolving around the Reptites and Zeal that I was hoping to get answers to, or even speculation on the questions...but here they are:

Reptites:

(1)   How did the Reptites become so much more advanced than Ayla's people?

(2)   How does Azala know about Lavos's landing, and also how did he know that it would bring the end of the Reptites about? (The reason I ask this is because of this section of text from the game spoken by Azala's....it is as follows: "No...It can't be...! Could the heavens truly have sided with the apes? Listen, primates, and let it be known. We Reptites fought to the bitter end! Soon stones of fire will rain down. Flames shall scorch the land. The burned-out plains will slowly freeze, ushering in a long, cruel ice age. Mwa, haha...What a treat! You will wish you went along with us! The future...We...have no future...")

(3) This doesn't really tie in to this but Where did Lavos come from (like what planet, are there more of it's species, was it created by some other creature/entity)?

Zeal:

(1)   Why are Nu's abundent in Zeal (more so than in any other era)?

(2)   Why does Queen Zeal forbid the planting of the sapling (other plants too) and the use of any elemental weapon/energy source?

(3)   How does Zeal float? (Not really important.....just buggs me)

(4)   Where does Schala get her extraordinary magical powers (I ask this for 2 reasons. One reason is that Janus doesn't have these skills inherently. My second reason is what 2 Zeal citizens said, both from Kajar. One said, "Schala's an incredible child who has extraordinary magical powers" and another said, "I heard Schala's powers far exceed those of her mother"...........Now if she didn't get all her magical powers from Queen Zeal then did she receive them from her father or was it both King & Queen Zeal's magic passed down that gave Schala her extraordinary powers OR was it neither, was she really of the Zeal bloodline [adopted maybe?])

(5)   How did Zeal get so technologically advanced?

(6)   Is Lavos's power infinite? (Some citizens state this....just wonderin' if it has any value)

(7)   Does the Mammon Machine draw and magnify the power of Lavos (This question comes from one Zeal citizens' comment about the Mammon Machine...the citizen stated, "The Mammon Machine...it draws and magnifies the infinite power of Lavos")?

- Well that's all of them...thanks for your time I'll be checkin' back soon! -

- Dubs, Over N Out!!

On the Reptites -

There doesn't seem to be anything unusual about the reptites' evolution, unlike humanity's, which was sped up/altered by Lavos' intervention. They had simply been around longer.

Perhaps they learned from the planet/Entity of Lavos' coming, somehow. No idea how or why Azala seems to have the limited knowledge of Lavos he does.

I haven't seen too much speculation on the Reptites - they appear to be an oft-neglected bunch.

R3) Lavos's origin is unknown, presumambly there was some planet where they evolved on.

Z2) She wants Lavos energy to be the only source of energy for the kingdom.

Z3) Using the power of Lavos. Just a beefed up version of Magus' levitation spell.

Z4) Born with them. Janus has them too, he just doesn't show them.

Z6) No. Lavos has a finite amount of energy, it's just that Zeal could never exhaust it, so it may as well be infinite. Like solar power.

One other possibility is that Lavos was bioengineered by a hyper-advanced alien civilization for some unknown purpose -- possibly either a terraforming machine or a superweapon to use against their enemies.  There's nothing definite about his origin.

Fair enough.

Time. Things evolve over time.

If you were fighting another race you'd know what yours was weak to. In Azala's case, cold. Reptiles are cold-blooded. They'd most likely die in an Ice Age (Lo and behold, they did!) They'd also know all the things that would cause it as well.

We never find this out. Either some beast bent on the ultimate Microevolution, or a superweapon gone rouge.

Uh...High abundance of Magical Energy?

(2)   Why does Queen Zeal forbid the planting of the sapling (other plants too) and the use of any elemental weapon/energy source?

Those weapons would help bring about the end of Lavos. If Lavos was your sugar daddy would you let the people get the chain gun?

From FF's evolution. Yes, Janus has magic. He never uses it though.

The Frozen Flame

If it was, would Crono and Co. really have won?

Yes, yes it does.

Questions about Reptites and Zeal!!

There are many theories regarding Nu...

I personally believe that it's fairly obvious that 12,000/Zeal is the timeline origin of Nus...Perhaps they were scattered throughout time during the Ocean Palace Disaster in the Lavos Timeline...Or perhaps they simply thrived in that time...As there were a couple (or maybe just one, depending on how you look at it) Nu in 65,000,000BC (although that could also be explained as having been a product of the OPD).

I think it's obvious that Nu are either robotic or are at least biologically engineered/altered, note how Belthasar uses his Nu to store his own memory. It's also good to note that one of their powers (outside of Headbutt) is the power to multiply asexually...
