Crete is the island just west of Lavos on the picture. It's part of Greece and is where the Labyrinth of Knossos is located.

Cyprus is the island just east of Lavos on the picture. The southern part of the island is the Republic of Cyprus, a member of the European Union. The northern part is the Turkish Northern Republic of Cyprus, a country which is de facto independant but is recognized internationally by no one except Turkey.

Okay. Just wanted to be clear. I probably misread something, but it seemed like there was some equation between Cyprus and Crete.
