April Fool's Contest results

And the winner is...

Mr. Tuesday, who discovered all four hidden gags.

[hidden]

Whatever... April Fools!

For those of you who didn't realize that the real April Fool's joke was that there were no "hidden" gags, thanks for helping fix a few problems with the site, making the real winner in the end the site itself. Hopefully you also found some interesting content you hadn't seen before in the process.

Thanks for taking part, and see you all again next year.

...

What.

I know that picture of the imp didn't have huge masses of red hair! I KNOW IT DIDN'T! You're lying, Ramsus! I'll prove it one day...count on it.

Okay, in all seriousness, this is no surprise. It's not the only position of power related April Fool's Day gag I've seen this year, though...NationStates did one with "Regional Moderators" for theirs.

Still...over all, not that funny, though. We need better gags.

Actually, this was also a test to weed out power-hungry Party conspirators and help defend the Party leaders (Zeality and myself) from internal strife. Those who participated are being "investigated" as we speak, and some of them may have to be re-indoctrinated to cure their selfish deviant thoughts, so that they can be true Party members again.

I'm going to launch my personal gag sometime this spring. I just can't get it out of my mind. It'll be another fake front page. In fact...well, I won't reveal the date.

See, THAT was funny. Why not a gag based on something like that?

Zeality: Good luck. With luck it will be quite amusing...the last fake front page was.

Yeah, I guess I have an affinity for surreal humor, but...moreso over the top surreal humor sometimes. Cartoon Planet was one of the greatest animated shows on earth for that kind of thing.

Kyronea is one of the greatest success stories of our re-indoctrination program. You all want to be more like Kyronea, don't you?

That was the greatest show on the planet. Stupid Space Ghost Coast to Coast ruined it  :x.

Honestly, the problem this year was that all of the previous gag code was removed with cleanups and updates, making hard to just throw something in at the last minute...

Now you have to wonder, what will we do just for the hell of it?

Hm...I have a backup with the aprilfools.png image there, but nothing else. AppleAirPort2 wouldn't be it...

Ah, maybe it was already gone by November 2006.

Backup code wouldn't work out of the box anyway, and it was a pretty straightforward hack.

Really, there's something more robust we could create that would fit the bill perfectly, while doubling as a great way to introduce new visitors to the site or announce special events.
