It's kind of impressive, the things that the United States has accomplished.

The Transcontinental railroad: Great lines of steel cross an entire continent, contending with deserts, mountains, and more.
The Panama Canal: We dug through a continent in order to connect two oceans for our convenience.
The National Highway System: We can drive from Los Angeles to New York city and never once have to cross country or drive on a dirt road.
The Apollo Program: You see that giant rock in the sky, the one orbiting earth? Yeah, we landed on it, and in the process created the foundation of 4 out of 5 technologies you are using right now.
The Human Genome Project: We unraveled the code that is responsible for the existance of the human race, we created the technology that allowed us to do this in far less than a human lifetime, and we're not done yet.
The Mars Missions: Some dude is driving a life-size R/C truck around the red planet right now. From earth. For Science.

According to Sid Meier, at least, many of these are wonders of the modern world.

Hmm... I just realized, all these were accomplished by the federal government.

Hey, private industry, what have you been up to again? Visit any other planets recently?

You know, I never thought about that. You raise a serious point with the fact that all of those were federally-funded initiatives (and not private ones). Hmm.

To be fair, private industry did a lot of the heavy lifting for those. I've just been getting really tired of the government bashing that has been going on amongst people I know, lately. It just that governments, and  government run projects, can accomplish some pretty amazing things that private industry just can't do, because private industry wont cooperate on its own.

Man, I can't believe I had yet t hear this remix of the music.

Too bad I have no ways to play these games. I'd have totally loved to fight my way through to the secret final stage just to hear this in actual gameplay (there doesn't seem to be videos of it at all from all I've searched).

Ha, my whole family's caught up in this song right now:

It's rare that you find a song that celebrates our fundamental disconnected-ness in this digital society. So this is for everyone out there who feels lonely in some way! As an artist, I've found loneliness and solitude can be a resource just as much as it is a curse. We aren't surrounded by a freaking vacuum -- as long as we take the world in, we are totally alive. That's how I interpret this anyway; it's the kind of song that can speak to people on many different levels. However you see it, let's make the most of it, I say!

Bonus for multi-lingualism: the German "Wir sind allein" means "we are alone" in English.

Haha, I was like "Where's the ferret?" then I saw the little guy on the dog's head.  Kind of looks like a mixture of a ferret, a raccoon, and a cat.

That's a red panda :(

Also sometimes referred to as a "firefox". Not that they aren't awesome, but it is a real creature and is not a ferret. Though I've never seen the avatar cartoon, they might just have a ferret that looks exactly like a red panda.
