I had a friend in college who was on loan to us from Australia. He said college was free; you pay back your tuition after you've graduated and gotten a job. That's the way to do it. But here in the US, we're going in exactly the opposite direction. As public funding for public universities (which are much cheaper) degrades, tuition keeps soaring. Tuition at the University of Washington is more than double for in-state residents than what it was when I attended ten years ago. That's maybe the single stupidest trend in our country today. And there are a lot of stupid trends here.

Wow. I would much rather prefer that method. But I wonder, in such places like Australia can you choose whichever college you wish to go to, so long as you still pay back the tuition?

There's still the admissions process. You can't get into a university without being admitted. That takes a combination of academic merit and human interest, or, in some instances, bribe money.

Hey, that's actually my current wallpaper.

That Dai-Gurren Brigade keychain. I know many keychains have been made for the series. Is this the flaming skull one?

Yeah, the burning, passionate emblem of the Dai-Gurren Dan.

Back in high school some good friends and I did a Spanish-language rendition of the Mr. Roboto music video for Spanish class, of course re-titling the song "Seņor Roboto" and changing the lyrics accordingly. For some reason I can't help but reflect on that when I see fan projects like this. Latin American countries are starting to seem a little like the Wild West nowadays, but is there a silver lining in the lawless atmosphere? Can the people running the drug cartels ever realize just how much more rewarding the act of creation - even with no financial gain - is than snuffing out human potential?

I loved PAX. I will write about it later, prolly in my journal, but surely some highlights here. For now, I am in Port Land!

Best watch out for the King of Portland. I'm not sure you have beard enough to stand up to him.

Ohhhh I used to *love* Mr. Roboto in HS. I wish that you guys would have saved the song, that would have been awesome XD. "muchas gracias senor roboto... MUCHAS GRACIAS... SENOR ROBOTO!" lol.

Heh heh, too bad Youtube hadn't been invented yet. It'd probably be blackmail material if it still exists though.

Shee, let us know how it goes!

I passed what I consider a major milestone in my life the other day -- finally sifting out and separating a bunch of concepts I have in my mind from the Xenogears world. It's interesting how fan art and fan fiction can incubate ideas and thoughtforms until they're mature enough to leave the nest, as it were.

Let us celebrate this fabulous divorce with some kickass Xenogears fanart!

It was a fine affair, but now it's over after more than 10 years. I'll never forget to stand tall -- and SHAKE THE HEAVENS!!
