Wow Zeph, nothing like taking one's education in giant leaps and bounds, eh? I'm not sure about the dynamics of your local economy, but judging from the grapevine of talking heads you're probably in a very promising position if you've got a degree comparatively early. More years in the workforce = more opportunity for raises and promotions, etc., over one's lifetime.

Congrats on the graduation!  Always a good feeling...

Booked a gig at the Pasadena Icehouse Comedy Club July 18th.  Sheeeeeeit!

Other than a few minor quibbles here and there, things are good.

I'm feelin' some strong love for Paul Krugman right now. He's co-authored at least one textbook I've read in grad school classes, but I never realized just how much a die-hard Keynesian he is until I began following him more closely recently. I have to wonder whether he tempered his feelings in order to secure textbook-writing contracts, but it's possible the textbook (on the basics of international trade) simply addressed topics he felt comfortable writing in a moderate or even neoclasically-influenced tone. It's kind of awesome when you start looking at blogs and op-ed columns written by the people who write the textbooks you have to gobble up during your studies; you get a much more holistic impression of the authors.

What's doubly awesome about Krugman is that he might not have entered economics if he hadn't been inspired by a particular Isaac Asimov novel. I mean, here's this guy, who got so worked up about particular topics after being inspired by a novel that he got a freakin' Nobel Prize. I could just "squee!" right now thinking about it. The power of art.

I went to the Solstice Festival today in Fremont, and watched the big parade. Good times! And it rained.

I just finished that game, actually! It was amazingly fun, a lot more so than I expected. The artists had such great attention to detail, even down to the graffiti on the walls and trash on the floor. There was a poem written for Companion Cube on one of the walls. It's little details like that which make a game awesome.
Also, Portal 2 trailer http://kotaku.com/5564435/portal-2-trailer-the-bitch-is-back and preview of the first levelhttp://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/64330/portal-2/videos/e310_portal2_demo_01_061510.html?show=hi.

I love GLaDOS' voice. I have a friend who sounds just like her, too.

In 1972 a crack commando unit was sent to prison by a military court for a crime they didn't commit. They promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Los Angeles underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire...the J-Team.
