Mediawiki got all snippy with us and refuses to nudge. I knew we should have gotten a puppy and trained it ourselves, but no, I had to take the easy route. Anyway, there weren't as many good breeds of puppy to choose from back then.

Actually, the SQL server for the wiki is working really slowly, and that's why most of the site won't work. Probably a good sign that we should get some better hosting...

Switch to some decent hosting. Then replace MediaWiki with a new system written from scratch (using a variety of libraries and tools to make it happen almost overnight, such as CherryPy), and start moving the information from the Encyclopedia and what not into the new system -- reason being that MediaWiki is slow and bulky.

Or we could just wait for our host to fix/optimize/upgrade that specific SQL server.

In a year or two, the hosting efficiency technology curve will dwarf MediaWiki's drawbacks, or something, right? Or...something else...
