Jet is basically a crappy Australia "rock" band. Don't look into 'em, you'll be disappointed.

More truly Rock than Nirvana, however.

Anyway, as to Dragonforce... yeah, actually, my brother was kind of impressed with that. It's not exactly Rock (not that he particularly cares which genre of music he listens to and likes), but has some bloody impressive guitar playing, near on Malmsteen speed.

Jet knows how to crank out classic rocky, loud tunes, but you can pretty easily identify where they're drawing their sources from -- like the Who and others. That's why I say they haven't found their own flavor yet. It doesn't help that they haven't released an album since 2003...

I think the Darkness ended up with the same problem, actually. They were another one of those recent bands that tried to look back to the old days.

My brother's been listening to some Iron Maiden lately. Fear of the Dark, I think.

Avenged Sevenfold is the best in my onion.... as we speak I'm listening to Chapter Four off of their CD Waking The Fallen. Dragonforce is extremely good on a guitar. And I still don't know wut Jet sounds like.... do I want to?

Jet tries really hard to be AC/DC...and that's just not something worth imitating...*shudders*

Personally, I have a fairly eclectic taste...It ranges from the popular, the classic, and a few things most people might say suck. Too bad I have the belief that most people, themselves, suck. Oh snap, how hardcore was that? >_>

Here's a list in alphabetical order...Yes, I know my alphabet!

Fiona Apple, The Aquabats, Beatdrop, Billy Talent, Björk, Black Sabbath, Cake, Children of the Monkey Machine, Crystal Method, Cypress Hill, Daft Punk, Death Cab For Cutie, Garbage, Genitorturers, Head Automatica, Ice Cube, Insane Clown Posse, KMFDM, Kottonmouth Kings, The Living End, Lords of Acid, Ludacris, Marilyn Manson, Kylie Minogue, Yasunori Mitsuda, Monster Magnet, My Chemical Romance, NWA, Ours, Ozzy Osbourne, PJ Harvey, Primal Scream, Primus, Prozzäk, Queens of the Stone Age, Rasputina, Seether, The Shins, Stabbing Westward, The Strokes, Tech N9ne, Thrice, Nobuo Uematsu, Ween, The White Stripes, X-Raided, and more!

I've highlighted three of the more recent additions...Billy Talent isn't really new...It's punk or punk rock...Classic stuff...But I know how iffy and fickle many punk fans are...Head Automatica is much more of a techno or techno rock band or something...I actually haven't listened to them in a while and I hear they have a new album out...And, yes, that's right...I put down Kylie Minogue...I like her voice and her simple techno elements...It's a combination i'm quite a sucker for...I'm not a big fan of her older late '80's & '90's stuff...but w/e...

Isn't music fun? Now where's this topic only for Movies and Television shows? I have guilty pleasures in both of those too, I'm sure...>_>

That is true, Nirvana isn't really rock. In fact, Nirvana was one of the reasons of the downfall of rock. They basically took the spotlight away from Guns N' Roses, and thankfully The Stone Roses, and instead popularised Grunge Individualism. Still, I love Nirvana.

Jet is ok, yet I really hate Are You Gonna Be My Girl. Also, Look What You've Done is an ok song.

Probably one of the greatest bands of all time is Pink Floyd. The Wall is an outstanding concept album, and in my opinion not comparable to Dark Side Of The Moon. The Wall is near perfect, in a whole-album sense, for when you listen to it start to finish its a great experience. But individualy it's not too great. When it comes to the other albums, Dark Side Of The Moon & Wish You Were Here are some of the greatest albums to have ever been produced. I'm working on getting Animals.

Radiohead rock too.

And this thread will die soon, just like my other music threads.

Haha, that's like asking for it from SomethingAwful.

Quote from: Thrope
Radiohead is the sort of dopily dissonant, synth-mashing, warbling, British crap that passes for cutting edge these days. Their Internet fans are legion, their pretentious and egotistically dull albums continue to sell, and the people who malign the good name of critics by calling themselves as much incessantly drool over Radiohead like they've got platinum bars shooting out of their jocks.

Quote from: Thrope
I really, truly, and deeply in my soul loathe Pink Floyd. Their mind-bogglingly pretentious musical wankery makes Radiohead look like Smash Mouth. They engaged in, or in many cases were responsible for, just about every reprehensible, over-serious prog-rock abomination that you could possibly think of; they’ve got the double-gatefold concept albums, they’ve got the expensively animated album-film, they’ve got the children singing the lyrics, and they’ve got the notoriously high-concept concerts where workmen build a wall in front of the band as they play and shit like that. Rick Wakeman’s “Camelot on Ice” disaster, frankly, seems rather cute when compared to the kind of crap that Pink Floyd likes to pull. The music behind all these nauseating concepts is densely layered pop music for below-average high-school misfits who mistake spooky sound effects for creativity. Many teenagers go through a Pink Floyd phase in high school; if you were or are one of them, I’d seriously advise you to cut your losses and give away all your Pink Floyd records now, lest you become one of the creepy stoned burnouts who spend their lives wearing faded Floyd t-shirts like reeking albatrosses, forever unable to find gainful employment anywhere but a head shop.

Heh. What about Something Awful's version of Pitchfork, http://www.somethingawful.com/fake/richdork? And the somewhat copied http://www.subpop.com/features/pdork? It just proves how much Pitchfork are biased towards Radiohead.

Does anyone like Rush, Van Halen, or Pink Floyd?

Just tossing it out there...
