you dont HAVE to but if you want to be legal then yeah probably.

If you ever want to make a profit from the games you design with RPG Maker, you'd better pay for the software or you'll be in a boatload of trouble.

If you're not planning to make a profit, you're still not allowed to pirate the program, but there's much less likelihood you'll get in trouble, and the trouble will be of a much weaker shade.

Hmm... Thanks.

I have the trial version for another while, so I'll decide sometime soon, whether to buy it or ditch it...
