It's OK...  Better than OK, really.  Definitely an "A" piece of work.  Still, I hope someday someone comes up with some hard-rock versions of these songs...  That would be cool.

I voted for "good and fine." I'd probably give it a B-minus or a C-plus on a letter scale.

It's a great piece of work, I really liked some of the mixing they did on it.
However, I'm not too much of a fan of "Too far away times" since they added vocals to it. I think the album did become what it set out to become. I'll be listening to it for a while. ^^

I was let down by it. Far too boring and synth-sounding. Good composing, but not as good as it definetely could've been.

It was good.  My only complaint was the vocals, but this is technically a cinematic soundtrack so they are needed.  Beautiful piece of work.  Excellent composing.

it was quite good, i just didn't like the vocals.

some of the songs were very good, some were kind of average-sounding

The bad vocals are more the fault of the person who wrote the lyrics and the music than the vocalist herself. Her voice is amateurish, to be sure, but the music is what exposed her weaknesses in plain view of everybody. A better musician would have written music with her particular vocal talents in mind, rather than forcing her voice to go places that made it look plainly bad. (Especially a problem in the epilogue piece!)

Yeah, the vocals simply didn't work. She has "potential" (I'm sure seeing this word everywhere recently...), but it was out of place and didn't fit into the music. It also seemed too strong compared to the rest of the instrumentation, and that doesn't work when the vocals aren't solid enough to support themselves.

Yeah, TFT did seem out of place with the rest of the album. I prefer the original version...

However, most everything else is incredible. I was blown away, even though the Epilouge song wasn't as good as it could of been.

Very good!  HOWEVER....

There's one thing that is keeping this from being what I would consider a great movie soundtrack...

Too much PIANO.

Piano's usually don't work well in good movie score's, for something of Chrono Trigger's magnitude and theme.  Think about it, we're putting this in the same fantasy realm as Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, right?  Think of their soundtracks.  Now tell me exactly how many pianos are used between thsoe 9 movies.  I don't think a single piano is used in ALL of star wars, and there might be one or two scaterred in random songs throught the LoTR trilogy, but I'm not even sure its that much.

The ONLY song the piano would work well for in an actual movie is "To Lands Unknown".  BEAUTIFUL piece, probably my favorite one.  I think the piano works here because it invokes a sense of mystery.

Every other song though, the piano has to be replaced by some other instrument.  They just, in general, don't work for these types of movies.

However, I COULD easily see this soundtrack being used in a videogame remake of Chrono Trigger.  There's just too much piano to work for a movie though.  I'm wondering if people agree with me on this.
