I am resurrecting this thread. There are a ton of new active members on the forums, and this is one of my favorite topics. Having a little, nostalgic digital sanctuary is an interesting concept (though...things like Second Life honestly creep me out).

Whoa, an old gem of a topic! My favourite place in an RPG is probably Zeal. I couldn't believe how different it was from the rest of the Chrono Trigger areas when I first arrived. The style of the floating islands, the appearance and dream-based beliefs of the people, and the style of the buildings is so unique and fascinating. I love it.

Definitely Zeal <3

The music, the architecture, the atmosphere of the palace- and the fall of Zeal was the most tragic thing that ever happened EVER.

I just got back into it, but in Final Fantasy X it's gotta be the Blitzball Arena. I'm in that fucker more than I'm in the actual game, I think...:(

I think the main(or even some of the other characters) hometown is one of my favorite places in an RPG.

There's just something about it. Now matter what RPG it is, the hometown feels the same to me. I just enjoy being there.

You mean how destroyed it most certainly is/is going to be?

My favorite place in an RPG would have to be...

Solaris from Xenogears...
Zeal from CT...
Valhalla from VP2...

I can't decide. :(

Hyrule Field at sunset in Twilight Princess is breath-taking.

Honestly? I don't know.

I do have a few favorites that could compete for the top spot though, such as Lindblum Castle in Final Fantasy IX, Zeal in Chrono Trigger, Sky Dragon Isle in Chrono Cross, Esthar in Final Fantasy VIII, and Kefka's Tower in Final Fantasy VI. There's probably a few other favorites too: I just can't think of any right now.

Bhujerba is certainly among my favorite places!

It's huge in the FMV, but only a town and a mine in-game. Weird. Lowtown is very cool too. Love the music <3

Well, it seems to me that none of the cities you visit in XII are actually fully opened for exploration. In fact, at some cities such as Bhujerba and Arcadia, it would appear that you have actual access to very little of their respective territories.
