Who does Arris Dome belong to?
« Reply #15 on: March 06, 2006, 08:20:19 pm »
Doan is supposed to be the descendant of Crono and Marle, so I assume that somehow Arris Dome belong to Guardia in one form or another, but without sufficient blood work, we'll have to believe the vague details from the game.

There is evidence that Truce and Porre still existed in 1999. The ending from when you lose by fighting Lavos in CT mentions several things.
Here's the exact words.

OPERATOR:Direct attack on Truce!!
SUPERVISOR: Calm down! How does it look down there?
OPERATOR: Porre... Choras... Medina...! Everything's been destroyed!!

In Another World, Guardia has supposedly been overthrown.
Quote
Radius:
I do not know what this
   man Lynx is plotting...
   But I believe General Viper
   intends to overthrow the
nation of Porre with the power
   of this legendary flame.
Porre is a nation governed by
   militarism and has brought on
   suffering to many people on
   the central continent of Zenan.
   Perhaps the general envisions
   a bright and peaceful world,
much like Guardia was at one
   time...

They could be at a time of war right now. I believe that Guardia continued to exist, just as a subsidary or a colony of Porre. And Truce was just the name of the village, names sometimes change, or even randomly disappear. Take, for instance, the small village that appears just west of the Denadoro Mountains (can't remember the name of it). In 600 A.D., it exists, but in 1,000 A.D., it's gone.

A good theory. Perhaps the future time was based in smaller city-states rather than large empires. Who knows. The Arris dome might have been its own country.

As for that town it was called SanDorino and I think its time for a crackpot theory on that one. Maybe the mystics kicked the humans out and teleported it to where they wanted it so the could save time building Medina. It could also be said that the Sun Keep should have collapsed and that Toma married Leene. Did I mention that Coca-cola and Pepsi are the same thing?

Time for a crackpot response to the crackpot theory.

Medina has PURPLE roofs, while San Dorino has YELLOW/ORANGE roofs. If they Mystics were lazy enough to completely uproot the buildings and put them where Ozzie's fortress was, they wouldn't take the time to repaint/reshingle the roofs.

Yay! Crackpot! Crackpot! Crackpot!
Do you think the roofing would have lasted 400 years?

I don't think the buildings, much less the roofing, would have lasted 400 years. Besides, they'd probably just do what Lavos did to Chronopolis and just move the entire town through time and just drop it in the middle of Medina.

Back to the original topic though. If you get on Epoch and sit directly above Arris dome and go back in time, you will arive somewhere above the mountains right behind Guardia castle, I believe. Which means that the continents must have changed around. See that mountain range in the future behind Arris Dome? Those are the same three mountains in the present. Why the gate takes you into that dome on the other side is beyond me. I'm assuming it's because it's geographical coordinates haven't changed, but the continents have. Trann Dome is to the southwest, which is the approximate area where Porre is. That's my theory on it.

So long as we're tossing around crackpot theories, I'll add another to the mix (though going back and answering the original question).

"Before" the events of CT (whatever that means), it's assumed Marle went and married some guy who wasn't Crono.  This was a sensible, intelligent man, who was able to avoid war with Porre.  Guardia's line continued to hold strong until 1999, when it held the Arris dome and the Administrator was a decendant of Marle.  The bloodline continued to 2300 with Doan.

Then Crono started murking around with things.  Through going to Zeal, and battling Lavos first hand, he became corrupted by the power of Lavos.  (The game establishes in a hand-wavy sort of fashion that this phenomina does in fact occur to humans.)  Crono kills Lavos, saves the future.  However, Marle falls in love with Crono and marries him.  Now, there's something about Crono that makes him not handle Porre as well.  Maybe he's too used to violence?  Maybe it's the taint of Lavos?  Maybe it's the fact that he refuses to talk?  Whatever, point is, Crono "causes" Guardia to fall.

Now, the Arris Dome doesn't even exist in the future timeline.  Instead of Arris, we get Chronopolis.  (This makes Doan's appearance at the Twilight Parade even more paradoxical, but meh, we'll ignore that.)  The events of CC happen after all of this, so it fits.

There's still a reference to the Arris Dome in the Dead Sea, which at least suggests it still exists. Then again, if the Kato statement that the Dead Sea is the averted future is taken literally (and it usually is), then the matter remains unresolved. Jeez! Why couldn't they let us walk around 1999 A.D.?
